From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

The only thing I'm MAD about is that JANUARY 2016is toooooo long for me Mr. Tyler Perry! I need more and I need it now!!! Lol

  • ChattyKay

That was mad, crazy, wild!! But Candace and Veronica are alive - so I am okay. I can't believe that sweet Jeffrey killed Quincy!?!?! Jeffrey is so sweet - I wonder how he will live with this. I can NOT believe that both the Cryers and the Harringtons are in jail!

Okay, last week was sort of a let-down, but Tyler BROUGHT IT tonight! LOVED IT! So David has some gumption after all...I'm glad it was his plan and not Jim's! Jim is an ungrateful b*stard! If I was David, I wouldn't have gotten his $$ back; I hope next season when he runs AGAINST Jim, he wipes the floor w/him! I guess we've seen the last of 'Oscar'! Glad Q is gone, but poor Jeffrey! Candace just seems to drag everyone into her messes; I hope Jeffrey doesn't end up in jail! So Hannah will have to live w/Benny until she can get a place of her own; we saw 2 of the 3 get killed that Jim ordered; I was expecting Veronica to get shot up there on the stage...maybe she'll get hers on the way to jail!!

Girl you know Candice is going to get (Oscar) Brian. January's a long time, can't wait.

I knew that Oscar was a plant and that he was out to get the money back from Candace. What I did not expect was that Candace trusted the Con Man enough to give him access to her bank account where all of her money was. I'm glad that Quincy is gone, I was sick of him, he only ever seemed to beat up on women and Jeffrey, he was afraid of Benny. I'm glad that Jeffrey killed him. I do hope that he does not have to do time for it. Now I want Candace and her Mother, brother and son become a strong unit, then maybe she will not desire to be a Con Artist, as she has now been conned. Maybe, it's my imagination, however it seems to be that Mrs. Crier has lost some weight. Maybe she is getting primed up to be the next itch...and show hubby that he is nothing when she takes over....I would love to see that. I'm sure that neither the Harrington's nor the Criers will be locked up for long, they are too powerful. I cannot hope that Candace gets back money that does not belong to her, however, she can pass the bar and become a powerful attorney. She and Veronica should become friends, she can learn a lot about law from Veronica and also some of Veronica's technique because Veronica is more experienced and smoother than Candace is at her young age. Anyway, I would like to be able to buy some DVD's of past seasons.

Jim ordered 4 people dead. The professor who raped his daugther, the man who raped his son in jail, the guard working for Veronica that worked in the jail and Veroncia who was not killed. 3 out of 4 was killed.

I need to find something to do during the day, but I need to answer this: How can Candace become friends with Veronica? She send Quincy after Candace to kill her. Candace will be a much better lawyer. Veronica got in bed with the very people she was there to defend. Remember the guy that rape Wyatt she had defended. The guys that was holding Jeffrey's car she had defended. She got these people to do her dirty work. The same as her husband and Jim they all are cut from the same cloth. Dear Kat I can not wait to see her face when she finds out her friend was the one who set her son up to get rape. She will have to sit there and think about the day that dear Veronica told her about the plan to set her maid's daughter up to be killed by Quincy. I can not wait for that night. I hope Tyler calls it BACKFIRE.

Mr Perry, I'm just getting a little tired of Candace mom I'm a upset right now. We as parents can sometimes down our children that we can push them into more trouble. That baby daddy almost killed her and when this young lady try doing a little something right mama door her way down.

  • Nelly Nashville

Great episode. Oscar had me fooled. I thought he was on the up and up and I was really digging he and Candace being together. I can't stand Hannah though. She is the reason Candace had such a terrible upbringing and Hannah shows no remorse for it. Hannah is stubborn and selfish in my opinion. I wish you could rewrite her character to embrace her daughter rather than continuously tear her down and throw her faults in her face. Can't wait to see next season.

The Haves and have Nots!! Good God Almighty!!! That ending episode was dramatic!! What a mind Tyler Perry has to create a show that is so full of twists and turns it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can not wait till the next season. You are truly blessed to have the imagination to create such an exciting show!!!

The Sept. 22,2015 episode was fantastic, my only concern, it seemed like a series finale, especially when you rolled those credits at the end. Say it isn't so, please tell me I'm wrong...
