Tyler Perry Appears On “The Today Show” & “The Tonight Show” Ahead Of “Mea Culpa” Premiere on Netflix

As we get closer to the February 23rd premiere of the new Netflix crime thriller “Mea Culpa,” writer, director, and producer of the film, Tyler Perry, is visiting friends to spread the word about the film.

On Wednesday morning, Perry appeared on The Today Show, where he sat down with Hoda Kotb to talk about the making of “Mea Culpa,” the power of making people laugh through his iconic Madea character, and the advice from his late mother that he continues to live by. Later on, Perry spoke with Hoda and Jenna Bush Hager about his friendship with Oprah Winfrey, the importance of giving back, and what continues to motivate and inspire him, and was joined by one of the film’s stars, Trevante Rhodes, to talk more about the creation of this thrilling new film.

That evening, he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he talked about getting to see Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, his love of the thriller genre, and what it was like to direct the “Mea Culpa” paint scene that will have audiences talking upon the film’s release. Next, he is set to appear on The Kelly Clarkson Show on February 23rd.

Written, directed, and produced by Perry and starring Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes, “Mea Culpa” tells the story of a criminal defense attorney who, in the hopes of becoming partner, takes on the case of an artist who may or may not have murdered his girlfriend.
