Tyler Perry has extended his content partnership with BET Media Group through 2028. This new multi-year, non-exclusive deal replaces Perry’s previous agreement with the company, which expires this year. Perry previously partnered with BET in 2019 to create content for both the cable network and its new streaming service, BET+.
The new deal includes renewals for Perry’s popular BET series “Sistas,” “The Oval,” “Assisted Living,” and “House of Payne” and BET+ shows “Zatima,” “Ruthless,” “All the Queen’s Men,” and “Bruh.” The company has also ordered a new scripted crime drama series from Perry for BET+ titled “Route 187,” which will be executive produced, directed and written by Perry. The pact also calls for Perry to develop more new programming for both outlets.
“Tyler Perry is simply without rival as a creator of content that powerfully resonates with audiences across genres, formats, and platforms,” BET Media Group president and CEO Scott Mills said in a statement. “We are thrilled to extend our extraordinary relationship with Tyler and to continue to be the home of the largest and most diverse collection of new Tyler Perry content for years to come.”
“Scott Mills and his team at BET have been incredibly supportive throughout our time working together, and I’m excited to continue bringing these stories to the screen,” Perry said in a statement. “I’m grateful to our loyal audiences for watching week after week and engaging these stories.”
This deal with BET is the most recent in a set of partnerships forged by Perry. Last year, he finalized a first-look features deal with Netflix, and added a first-look series deal with the streamer earlier this year. Separately, Perry has a four-film deal with Amazon Studios.
