From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

I wish that it was possible to have e your wonderful shows on regular TV. I am not fortunate to be able to afford cLeaning or satellite and therefore I just have to listen to friends tAlk about how good the shows are. Just not in my budget at the time . But keep up the great and wonderful work you do! You are an awesome actor, producer and writer.

I think this is one of the best written, smartest shows on television. Every actor is absolutely perfect in their roles. It is also very nice to see Philip Boyd in the cast. Keep up the awesome work!

Disappoint with how Veronica and David's story line is playing out...why does she have to be the "typical" angry black woman? Please don't let David end up with Maggie.

I agree with you. I'm very disappointed this story line.

I'm with you...I'm not crazy about the character of Candice, but love Veronica,Catherine, and all the other dysfunctional characters, but not liking the storyline for Veronica,as she's becoming an out of control real b******* Woe is David and all who get in her way,if this writing continues, to totally demonize Veronica,as h*** in heels keeps going...Tone her character down, and stop with treating Jeffrey so badly... Benny is not for Veronica,as she will chew him up and spit him out....

Mr. Perry, I've been following the show religiously but there are 2 improvements that are truly needed: 1) For your older viewers with slightly less than perfect hearing could you please tone down the music so that we can hear the dialogue better (turning the volume up does NOT help), and 2) Could you please lessen the pauses for dramatic effect - the exorbitant pauses detract from the shows content and drama. Thanks!

Tyler I was so excited to see the show. Can't believe Veronica wanted to see Benny. Feel bad for David, I wonder about this Oscar guy, hope he can change Candice. I can't wait until next Tuesday. You're doing an excellent job.

I want he'd the show tonight and it was great. The only thing I found wrong with it was when Mrs. Dryer complimented Veronica on her dress, Veronica said that she had Neiman to open early. There is no Neiman Marcus in Savannah. The only store is in Atlanta.

Why do you have to have men and men how could you possibly think that God Is Pleased At that! I understand Success But We Destroy it When God Begins To Bless Us!!! God did not make me for male he made me for female come on now you gotta be true to yourself And Gods Word! I can't see You continuing to be blessed in all this promotion of Sin!!! God knows I can't!!! I'm not saying that you are alone but I'm saying my Standard And integrity was higher in you!

Just because a producer decides to put homosexuals in his script does not mean he is getting any further from God. No sin is greater then the other. To me it's the same as going to a baby shower of a woman that is not married. Celebrating a pregnancy out of wedlock. It's about what is in your heart. I can be pretty sure that you did not change the channel. These things are going on in the world around us everyday and Mr. Perry has to the courage to reinact it on your tv screen.

    • calvin connecticut #2121811

Reinact and promoting sin are two different things.

    • Therese Atlanta #2125010

Who said that being g** was a sin?

Mr. Tyler Perry, you have been Blessed and now you are being a Blessing. You bring much happiness and laughter into my life and others. In the world we live in where it seems to be so much stress and disappointments, we need to be able to laugh. To be able to take our minds off our problems if only for a little while. You bring that joy in your movies and television programs. (I've yet to see you in person). I appreciate your talents. I could go on and on but I just wanted you to know you are a Blessing and you've done what God has wanted and that is to share your gift, talents with others.

When this show first started out it had a good story line , now I don't know who Mr. Perry has working with him writing scripts because this is all over the place nothing is accomplished, and nothing gained'. It just fizzles out, for those of you who keep stating that this show is the bomb have not read many book. Any avid book reader can immediately find the flaws. For one Veronica needs to come down off her pedestal, no one can destroy a bar, get someone out of prison ect.. without facing the consequences. even the President of the United States is not above the law. Mr. Perry needs to clean the story line up. His other show, If Loving you is wrong involves five women, their men and children yet it all flows together, you can miss an episode and still come back the next show and pick up on what is going on. I won't be watching it tonight or any other night I will be watching the movie Zoo that was filmed here in Louisiana. Will be more interesting and wait for the Walking Dead, Empire, Being Mary Jane and If loving you is wrong to come back on.

I agree with you, but television has always been about exaggerating. Why can't Tyler?
