Description:

From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

Greetings! There is no other show, oh I'll say in a decade, that has peaked my interest, let alone my attention as much as THATHN. In my opinion, this show DESERVES an Emmy!! Kudos to you,Mr. Perry, for bringing this show to OWN, you are doing an amazing job!! I just wish you had more episodes. I am sad because there are ONLY 3 episodes remaining. Time goes by so, except when we are waiting for the new episodes to arrive. And, oh, please don't tell us that after the season is over, we will have to wait until next year before we can see new episodes. That's a looonnnggg time to keep the fans waiting!!! Last Tuesday's episode was THE BOMB!!! Peace....MJ

I realize and thank God for delivering you from a poor "On the streets", to the rich multi talented -- and rich person in your life. and the fact that you wear many "hats" at time. with `feeling your plate`, I get the distinct feeling that it is beginning to show with the many products you have "IN THE CAN", That it lead me to ask a point question. Why are the Haves And The Have Nots taking so many breaks between seasons? Most television Network will have a minimum of 26 shows "Ready To Go" before airing. and the WAIT time between {SEASONS} are no more than two months (Summer runs). This Up and down suspence on this show, and the frequency of |CLIFF HANGERS| can be quite taxing on the heart. I Emplore you to have at least a quarter year (13 weeks) or even better; now that the show is well established, 26 weeks before you pause the season out. The flow of this :Continuing Daytime Drama/Sereal/Soap Opera.,.. will give a feeling like shows that are aired on the BIG 3 Network. I am not talking about content, In the words of M. C. Hammer, "Cant Touch This", but the continuity and flow of your 'on again off again style... ask your fans in a POLL I think you would appreciate what my point is. basic poll question: DO YOU LIKE THE FREQUENCY OF BREAKS BETWEEN SEASONS? YES OR KNOW. Or HOW OFTENT SHOULD WEEK BREAK BETWEEN SEASONS: 13 WEEKS, 26 WEEKS, OR 52 WEEKS. Thamks for the drama that NO OTHER STATION CAN SIMULATE.

I have watched this show from the beginning. Tyler, you seem to have lost touch. People don't let people run over them ALL the time without ever standing up to them unless they are COMPLETE cowards. Why did you write the majority of your characters as cowards with no backbone? Only Candace, Jim and Veronica have any backbone. I don't like any of those three, but at least they say what they feel and will stand up to anyone. The rest of the characters are doormats. Yeah, Hannah and Kathryn talk a good game, but when push comes to shove, they fold instead of doing any of the things they threaten to do. Give your other characters some backbone. It's too hard watching the characters you like always cowering and being totally servile, especially Jeffrey!

The same happens on daytime soaps. For example The Young and the Restless. Victor Newman is very powerful and gets away with everything. Difference is the characters on the Have and Have Nots are a little extreme. I think Tyler is on the right track but needs to introduce more people in the story line. As much as I love this show I don't think it will last with just the current cast. The cast needs to be expanded just like daytime soaps.

I agree with EJ 100%. There is no satisfaction watching people get demeaned and bullied all the time...it gets depressing and I get angry. Please let it get a bit more uplifting. I can't stand the way you have Jeffery's character whimpering around his mother....Gosh, give him some backbone!

I thoroughly enjoy this nite soap every week and have not missed an episode. I am somewhat dusappointed because it only stays on for an hour and I have. to wait months for a new season. Why couldn't you with all of your brilliance at least have allowed each episode to run to 2 hours each week for an entire year! I knkw that tbis is a kind of reality tv - but. I adore your creativeness. Continue to allow God to show favor on you in all tbat you pursue in life.

Ok... 1. Jeffery needs to get a back bone!!! I was dying laughing when he dad said, "Son you don't have to be afraid of her". LOL 2. I felt sorry for Benny when he was in a coma but he should have died. I hate his "new" personality, nothing like the old Benny. He is annoying. Hanah needs to put his ungrateful b*** in his place. 3. I can't wait for Jim to get it. 4. Amanda, Amanda lol. This girl is straight loco! I love it. She is playing her role. I want to see her and Quincy hookup. Quincy has the sexy gangster appeal. Keep him and boot Benny! 5. Veronica is a bully! She's worse than Jim.

ITA about Jeffrey! I can't believe how he lets Veronica bully/humiliate him into doing her bidding! Only 2 people have the 'stones' tos tand up to her...Candace and Landon! He sure wanted to give Veronica a piece of his mind, but out of respect for Jeffrey, he held his tongue, but his time is coming soon, I hope! Since Jeffrey's too chicken to do it, HE will! David's no better, he's chicken, too! Quincy and Amanda? I think she does have a crazy crush on him, and he'll use her to get to Candace, and she may end up killing him! Then they'll have to commit her for sure! Now, about Benny...I knew he would be more aggressive after the accident, and I'm glad; I'm tired of Hannah treating him like a kindergartner! He's a grown man w/a business! And trust me when I say he's going to be a force to be reckoned with when he finds out about Wyatt and and Cryers, and about dear old dad, not to mention Quincy stalking Candace!! Benny's going gangster!!!

I like the idea of this show, but it moves too slow. There is a reason people stopped watching daytime soap operas; they moved too slow. Oddly, I think most folks want to see the good guys win and the bad guys get what's coming to them. Life is really not that way, but that is why entertainment should be. Give me someone to hate and someone to root for in a timely manner!! Just my opinion.
