Description:

From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

Hello Mr. Perry: I have watched every episode of the Haves and The Haves Nots and enjoyed every minute of it. However this comment is about your movie, Single Moms Club. I am a 70 year-old middle school teacher and finally had an opportunity to watch it with my wife tonignt. As usual with all of your movies and plays, it was a very a well written, entertaining and eye-opening production. However, one aspect of it left me a little bewildered and I question whether it was intentional or an oversight. When May's son left Halley's home on the night she babysat all the children, why was Peter who none of the mothers knew, including Halley chosen as the adult to stay and watch all the children. All the other adults left to search. Not one of the children even knew him. That would be highly impractical, risky and unrealistic, especially in this day and time. Was it an oversight or intentional? If intentional, would you please share the rationale. Thanks for all your great work and may God continue to bless you as you minister to us through your gift.

Greetings! WOW, WHAT A SHOW! I really and truly enjoyed last night's episode. It was filled with suspense, intrigue and intensity. I enjoyed the scene with Jeffrey and his dad. It was so touching. I don't think there's anyone out that can persuade Veronica to change her mind about her son being gay. I guess she didn't get the memo about loving your children unconditionally. Stop blackmailing your son, Veronica, and just love and accept him for who and what he is. When Maggie was looking for a building for the campaign headquarters and Maggie was talking to this guy about why she was interested in the building she mentioned something about Jim was running for Governor and he asked if he could volunteer for the campaign, I had an inkling that that boy was Jim and Celine's son. I wonder if Kathryn knows anything about Jim's love child. I know that Candace was told that her baby is dead, but I don't believe it. I believe that, for whatever reason, Qunicy is lying! For however long it will last, I am happy that Hanna and Kathryn are friends again. I was saddened when Hanna told Kathryn that she no longer wanted to work for her. Sorry for the long comments, so I will sign off for now and will continue the remainder of my comments later. Peace...MJ

MJ, would YOU want to work for someone if you thought their son ran your child over and left him lying in the street like a dog?! I don't blame Hannah, but I'm also glad that they're friends again, until next season when Wyatt, I believe, will have a major attack of conscience and confess! Don't know how Hannah will handle that! But one thing, Katheryn has sense enough to know that her children's problems will eventually catch up w/them and cause severe damage to all concerned. Like she told Jim, yes, he loves his kids, but he's ruining them in the process by trying to always protect/get them out of trouble; and he's gonna pay big-time for it! I also think she already knows about Celine's son, and that's why they can't fire Celine; she just hasn't met him! I was hoping she'd walk in on that confrontation bet. Jim, Celine, and Carlos!

The angst, repression and downright cowardliness of Jeffrey is nauseating. If you have to make him such a weakling, can't you at least move the action a little faster so we don't have to sit and just LOOK at him? This is the weakest part of the storyline for me. Every time he's on the screen with his mom, I fast forward - knowing I only have to catch the last bit to miss nothing! It's like the lights are on and nobody's home with this character. When are you going to let him grow a pair! Tell the witch-mother "the h*** with my car" and call her bluff.

Please next season let Jeffrey grow some ball. Not even a g** man is this weak. Veronica next to be brought down in the gutters. I turn the channel when Jeffrey is on. Too weak

I always enjoy the episodes on your show, and the characters are great and complex. I love Hanna and Katheryn's friendship and glad they made up, but I do hope Hanna learns the truth but don't want it to ruin the unique friendship she has with Katheryn. I glad Jim might get his comeuppance and looking forward to Quincy beating him up. Jim really needs to pay for all his dirty deeds and arrogance, they way he treats people. Glad Katheryn finally got her backbone back and put Jim in his place an he better leave Hanna alone after what she's been through because of Wyatt. Both Wyatt and Jeffery need to man up, Wyatt needs to step up to the plate and do what is right and Jeffery needs to stop allowing his mother to blackmail him and live his own life. I love the characters Candace and Katheryn and despite what others had said I don't think Hanna is a bad Christian just a human one who still feels rage at her daughter because of what kind of person she became. I hope these two bond sometime in the future. I know there is going to be a death in the finale and I'm looking forward to who it is just hope it isn't Hanna, Benny, Katheryn or Candace since they mostly make the show.

I'm betting either Jim or Quincy! Maybe Amanda; she may commit suicide from all the stress (finding out Quincy's just using her; her daddy's affair w/Candace; Candace using her; being raped by the professor, fear of being committed again, etc.)! Her rope's just about run out!

The scene between David and Jeffery about acceptance and character "I LOVE U" was the most moving scene I've watched in a very long time. I felt as if I were sitting across from them. David is my favorite actor of the cast I've watched him since soap opera days and I'm blessed to have him back on TV. Thank everyone involved in this seriesit is an awesome show I tape every week to watch at least once.

I though so too, Lynda. I cried watching that scene because David truly loves his son and wants the best for him. I thought that was the best scene last night. I liked the fact that we found out that Carlos was really Jim's son.

Mr Perry, I think I had heard you say that Hannah was getting a love interest and so far I have not seen it happen. Will it still happen? Give Hannah a life. I just love her acting styles and after all of that crying she did in the first season she deserves someone to be there for her. I love the show. Just can't wait for Tuesday Nights. Make sure Oprah order lots and lots more episodes.
