I Thank God For Closed Doors

When I wake up in the morning and see the sunrise as I’m running, I thank God for new mercies every day. As I was running this morning I started thinking about this and you know how much I like to share my morning thoughts… LOL

I was out just thinking about my life and all the times that I wished that a door had opened. All the times I had promoters and people lie to me saying that they would help me... I remember wishing the bank would approve my loan request for a house or a car (usually one I couldn’t afford at the time). I wished that this person would help me or that person would do something to help my business, or this person would help my dreams come true.

As I look back now I’m so glad that none of those situations worked out. I’m so glad God closed those doors because they forced me to find the right path for me. If you’re in this situation and you feel like doors are closing all around you and you are frustrated, here’s something I’d like you to think about: Life can be like a living maze. You know what a maze is. In a maze, you start out at one end and your objective is to find your way to the finish line.

Many times you may make a turn and hit a dead end and you have to go another way. Just like life, that door closing on you sends you another way. It doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen, it just means you need to go another way. If you keep moving, eventually you will get to where you’re going.

Another thing that is important when you’re in a maze, as in life, is to remember where you have been. If you get turned around and confused in a maze, in order to get out, you have to remember the dead-ends that you have already hit. Just like in life you have to remember all the doors that were closed so you don’t waste time going that way again. If you want to get to your dreams you can’t expect to get there by doing the same thing and going to the same spots. You must try something different. I’m not saying give up on your dream, I’m saying try another path to the same dream. Same maze, same dream, but take a different direction to get there.

I feel sorry for people who have a dream and give up because it gets hard. Let me tell you something, "IT’S GOING TO GET HARD!" And my answer to that is, "SO WHAT? MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!" Don’t stop because a door closed. I have learned to thank God for closed doors. You have to know that if God wanted you to go that way, no man could close that door. But for some reason he allowed that door to be closed, but if that one was closed I assure you that there is one that is open somewhere. And it’s the right one. Don’t stop until you are living your dream.

Is this helping anybody?

So true ! Am currently living in that moment - Thanking God for closing those doors If you think about it dead ends , closed doors , disappointments most times if you look closely and consider them later on they grow us , they make us become better , stronger more informed and wiser. Your comments have reminded me of a book I once read " Who moved My Cheese "

Wow....what a word! I was just sitting here on my computer, and thought, let me see what Mr. Tyler Perry is up to these days, and I opened this particular message. I certainly did need to hear this because I was thinking I have this vision I believe God has given me, but I can't seem to get pass the road blocks, but it is so true, God often closes certain doors to steer us in the right direction. I was so excited when I read this because taking those different routes is oftentimes God's way of making us trust his direction and ultimately, fulfilling the purposes He has for our lives. Thank you so much for this message and inspiring me to STOP trying to beat down doors and knock open windows that God has closed. Just need to go to the next door and watch God swing it wide open. God bless you!

Hi Mr. Perry. I just want to say that I thank God for you and how your post encouraged me. At one point I wanted to give up on my dream, but the God in me would not let that happen. I had to take another road to my dreams. I have been associated with people who knew the business that I wanted to go into. Instead of them helping me, they said that I couldn't handle it. But God move those people out of my way, and he is opening doors for me. For five years, I wanted to go back to school to get a degree in Business. This year, I am going back! I am a seamstress and a visionary. God has given me vision not only for me, but to help get jobs established in the city of Lancaster, to help feed the hungry and see the homeless get off the streets, and into a place they can call home. That is my vision that God has given me and I am going full force into my destiny. Thank You!

I really appreciate this message, but in my situation I'm not understanding if its a Closed door or open door. I've been accepted to Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View,Tx , Which was a shock for me, because of my act score. I've figured it was Gods favor upon me and a door open for me. When me and my parents really look into the school and consider its a Great school for me, The financial problems comes along.. We can't afford for me to go to this school. So I really don't know what to do.. Starting to seem like a Closed door for me & my future.

This is very helpful, because I have been in a maze for an entire year as of July 27, 2013. I am highly skilled and experienced in my career field, yet I have had to resign from one job and can't seem to find an open door anywhere in Houston, in spite of the fact there are many jobs in administration all over this city. So, I've decided to embark on a "new" career pathway in the film and entertainment industry. Lord nows how many closed doors I will continue to bump into trying to enter this field. However, what you say is true, Tyler! Doors are closed for a reason, and doors are enabled to open for a reason. However, all opportunities that are closed and opened are positioned by a "higher power," and until my patience aligns with his time of readiness, I will remain in my maze, no matter how much I continue to scurry around anxiously applying for principal jobs, looking for that open door, that open clearance to the exit of the maze. Opportunity will avail itself only when HE is ready for me to receive it . Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Speaking of closed doors, I have always loved to go to church. Well, around 2002 a pastor in memphis started a new church. At that time I was about 19 years old when he started the church and it was mostly young adults. People were joining the church every sunday. I am talking about 30 or 40 people every sunday. I did not join until I was 22 years old. I came from a baptist background and he formed his church on the chrisitan faith. Well what hurt me is that one sunday he made a bullentin that said his church was for people 30 and under after I had already joined the church. Well as the years went by I felt that I had to leave when I turned 30 years old. It is like I could never pull up from that one bullentin that he made. So what I did when I tuned 30 I decided to go back to the church (First Baptist) that I went to when I was a little girl. It is like when that door closed for me GOD left another door open for me. Everyboday in my church still looks the same. The same people are still there today as when I was a little girl and it is like I never left. My granddad still attends but I would have never thought that I would go to the same place that my parents and I left years ago. I realized that door never closed for me. I thank GOD that I had somewhere to go back to. GOD is so amazing. I guess at the time I thought that the grass was greener on the other side and it wasn't. All the doors that were open to me then are still open to me now I just have to keep my faith that GOD knows what is best for me even when I don't. I thank GOD that he closed the door to that church and left the door open at my home church. May GOD bless you Tyler.

Tyler, You do realize that this is a ministry your have in your hands thats why God had to make sure you get here and do what you are doing now. Especially because most of your work reaches out to all indiscriminately.... I say this because earlier this week I was exploring your website and I stumbled upon this article " I thank God for close doors". Believe it or not it did speak to my situation, I'm trying to buy a house and I can't seem to get something I want. The ones I like are obviously way beyond my budget. After this reading this, I've been thanking God for closed doors because I know he has a good plan for me. I was also watching a podcast from a great man of God who also echoed the exact sentiment and he used an example of when he was buying a house. Lol This is my Rhema right here... May God continue to use to bless and inspire more. Stay blessed

MAAANNN.... I needed to hear that this is the second post that I have read from you today and all I need to do is apply what you're saying and keep my faith in God continue to pray hard and I will probably just make something out of myself! the door that I am searching for is the door to audition for you.. it is a dream that I have that I am going to continue to try... even if I have to go to/ through different doors. and even though I get beat down so much and I want to throw in the towel... I have to keep trying to figure out my life's maze one way or the other... thankYOU.
