Due To Circumstances That I Can't Control...

Unfortunately, due to circumstances that I can't control, we've had to cancel this leg of the Madea Gets A Job tour.

Here's why. I set a ticket price for the show starting at $25. The reason I set the price so low is so that everyone could get a chance to come out and see the show. I know how tight things are right now. I GET IT! I do not tour to make a living, I tour because I love staying connected to all of you. I love seeing your faces, hearing you laugh and seeing you enjoy yourselves. It gives me great joy. Even though it's a lot of work, I really don't mind doing it. Because of that, what I do is make sure that the promoter sets a reasonable ticket price and the prices are $25, $45 and $65. Even though I set these prices so that they are affordable, fees are added that are out of my control and the price of the tickets can almost double. Add to that, when you go online looking for tickets, IN LOTS OF CASES, you are being led to a bootlegger and you don't even know it. There are a lot of ticket bootleggers and scalpers that buy lots of shows and sell them to the public for double, sometimes triple the price. I've been dealing with this for years but now with the internet I've never seen it this bad.

Also, there are some horrible people who are pretending to be me or representing me on Facebook and charging people money to do a meet and greet on the tour. They are telling people that they are me or working for me and charging them $150 for a meet and greet after the play.  DON'T FALL FOR THIS!! That's not me.

This is so frustrating! Why are people so evil? Why can't people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time? If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing they could make it. It's so sad.

To all of you who have bought tickets and made plans to be there I am so sorry. I really am but my hands are tied.

This was the last live Madea tour and I'm super sorry that you won't get to see it live. All refunds should be given back to you.

Mr. Tyler: Hi am a long term fan of yours. Today is Sunday Oct. 14, 2012. I have been watching you movies and plays all day. Sunday is Madea's Day when I'm not working. Honestly Tyler I don't have the money or the resources to contact you other ways. I have to do what i can afford. i believe and trust in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have been sending messages from day one since you have had a site set up. I have been trying and trying to contact you. I know that you have personal help for everything by now. I'm not asking for much. My babies 7 and 11 love Madea/Tyler Perry they pray that they can see you and Brown each night. The world is so high tech now if you dont have twitter or facebook its like your really not there. I dont have those things. My job is so crazy Im afraid to get a facebook account you know. Until I do make it I still have responsibilities you know. If my job say no facebook, no facebook. i will continue to send you messages until you respond I wont quit. I dont care what everybody else reading may think. I'm not begging just requesting you respond to me. however I do wish my kids to meet you. Sometimes in life you have alot of dreams and things you want to accomplish. However circumstances dictate different. PEOPLE tell me to concentrate on my career CORRECTIONS..... But I just trust in God and He will answer my prayers. I want a different life for me and my kids. I WILL STAND STILL AND WAIT ON GOD, if i have to send you messages this way every month, until you answer i will do. Anyways Tyler continue to trust in God and he will guide your path. That's what i believe in and always have trusted in him. Life can be complicated, just let god fight your battles you know.

Madea, I mean Tyler Perry, I am so sorry you had to cancel your play, but I understand. Some people are always trying to ride on someone elses back instead of doing things themselves. My son is 20 years old and has autism and has been wanting to see one of your plays for the past two years. He was really heart broken (although he is so polite, he always hides his feelings when he is angry). I had to let him read your statement so he would believe me. I would have paid anything to take my son to see your play and hope it will come out again when the problems can be resolved. I will be praying for you and who knows, maybe one day we will be blessed and see another play or meet you one day. I am also an incest survivor and work through my issues by creating collages, photography, and I also am working on a play that is associated with my art. Bless you, LaRonda Carson

I will be there! I am not a thriller fan, but I am a Tyler Perry fan. I miss my House of Payne, I am just saying. Now that you and Oprah have teamed up, I am just saying.

My wife Ursula and I are very curious since your company has cancelled the remainder of the play tour, as to when the "Madea Gets A Job" DVD will be released...I read where it was scheduled for filming either in June or July so I trust that was a success. We're gonna check out Alex Cross soon too! Hopefully we'll get to see you perform as Madea live someday! Please clarify as some of the comments I read below sound as though you're not doing Madea anymore...even in movies! May the Lord Jesus Christ the Messiah (the anointed One and His anointing) continue to bless and anoint you Tyler and your production company, crew, etc. BTW - OWN got removed from our basic COX cable system so hopefully your TV shows will still be running on BET and not totally moved to OWN

Hello Mr. Perry, My sister's and I were very disappointed when we learned you had to cancel the show. Hopefully, it will be released on DVD. May God continue to bless you and your staff.

  • DeVaughn Norwood Murfreesboro, TN.

Would you mind at least making a DVD of Madea Gets A Job? I really would love to see it. Please?

  • Sandra Cheraw, S.C.

Hello Mr. Perry, I thank you for your honesty. You are so correct on dishonest people. I'm a big fan of yours, always. Most days I'll imitate one of the many charactors from a play or movie to help make it through the day. I'm going to take a picture with my ticket for the play I almost got to view it would have been my 1st live play. I will be watching Alex Cross in 9 more days. May God bless you, I hope one day you can return to your first love acting live on Stage, much success........Maybe one day you can visit the home town of famous jazz artist, Mr. Dizzy Gillespie! Take care.........

Will you at least make a DVD of the play and sell it

this is a bs reason to cancel your show.

  • shakeerah long island ny

I absolutely love your work... this was going to be one of my first plays. I've seen all your movies and all your shows. I really hope you reconsider. You're a great actor.

  • Melly

I see all these comments about supporting you for your decision but nowhere in your statement did I see an actual reason to let so many people down. So what if people are being shady? You cancel a tour because of that? You've never encountered shady people before? I am dumbfounded that people actually support you when you gave such a BS reason. I think you are just thinking about your movie and money and no longer care about your fans.
