Tyler Perry is returning to one of his successful franchises with Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?, a sequel to the 2007 hit Why Did I Get Married? and 2010’s Why Did I Get Married Too?. Netflix has released the teaser trailer for the film, which is set to begin streaming on September 9th. Perry wrote, directed, and stars in the new movie, which marks his second feature film release of 2026 after Tyler Perry’s Joe’s College Road Trip, which debuted on Netflix in February.
People shared that the third entry in the franchise centers on the ensemble cast’s reunion at a wedding in Lake Como, Italy, where two children from the franchise’s core group of friends — portrayed by Perry, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Michael Jai White, Tasha Smith, Sharon Leal and Lamman Rucker — are getting married. Taraji P. Henson, who has worked with Perry a number of times in the past, also joins the cast as the mother of the groom at the wedding in question.
This marks the latest release from Perry’s ongoing creative partnership with Netflix, where he continues to write, direct, and produce films and series across multiple genres.
