“The Six Triple Eight” Becomes Tyler Perry’s Most-Watched Netflix Movie to Date

Tyler Perry’s “The Six Triple Eight” has captured an impressive 52.4 million views over the first four weeks since its premiere on December 20th 2024, making it his most-watched Netflix movie to date. Not only that, the historical drama reached the Top 10 in more than 85 countries, and has also boosted viewership for his other films on the service. Netflix has reported that viewership of Perry’s other Netflix films, including “Mea Culpa” and “A Jazzman’s Blues,” increased by more than 45% since the film’s streaming release.

The film has also received accolades for its original music, with “The Journey” by writer Diane Warren, performer H.E.R., and music supervisor Joel High receiving a Music Supervisors Guild Awards nomination for Best Song Written and/or Recorded for a Film. The original song also advanced in shortlists shared by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ahead of the 97th Academy Awards.

To promote the film and amplify the important story it tells, Tyler Perry embarked on an extensive press tour, appearing on CBS Mornings, MSNBC’s Morning Joe, The View, The Today Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Sherri, sharing his stories on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard and The Great Creators with Guy Raz, and giving interviews to Variety, People Magazine, and Backstage Magazine.
