“The Journey”, written by Diane Warren and performed by H.E.R. for Tyler Perry’s latest Netflix movie “The Six Triple Eight,” has been nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Original Song.
This is Warren’s 16th Oscar nomination, beating her own record for nominations in the Original Song category, and her eighth nomination in the category over the past eight years. She received an honorary Oscar in 2022. H.E.R. was also nominated in the category in 2021, when she won for “Fight For You” from “Judas And The Black Messiah.”
Written, directed, and produced by Perry, “The Six Triple Eight” tells the true story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion: the only predominantly Black, all-female army corps battalion during World War II. The film captured an impressive 52.4 million views over the first four weeks following its premiere in December 2024, making it Perry’s most-watched Netflix movie to date.
The 97th Academy Awards will air on Sunday, March 2 from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, starting at 4pm PT / 7pm ET on ABC and Hulu. Stream “The Six Triple Eight” now on Netflix.
