Tyler Perry signs on to voice The Star

The Star is a faith-based animated film inspired by the nativity story, with one clever twist: it’s told from the perspective of the animals.

The plot follows Bo, a brave donkey that believes life is greater beyond the village mill. After finding the courage to finally go on the adventure a lifetime, he teams up with Dave, a dove with big dreams, and Ruth, a sheep who lost her flock. Bo and his new friends follow a star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told, the first Christmas.

From Sony Pictures Animations, The Star is from Oscar-nominated director Timothy Reckart (Head Over Heels) and written by Carlos Kotkin (Rio 2). The Walking Dead’s Steve Yeun is signed on to voice Bo, alongside Saturday Night Live’s Aidy Bryant for Ruth, and Key and Peele’s Keegan-Michael Key as Dave.Tyler Perry will join forces with longtime friend Oprah Winfrey, and funny-man Tracy Morgan, to add to the star-studded roster as the three wisecracking camels, Cyrus, Deborah and Flexis, who are traveling with the Three Wise Men.

The Star hits theaters November 10, 2017.
