Tyler Perry named one of industry’s 50 Agents of Change by The Hollywood Reporter

The Hollywood Reporter is no stranger to crafting collective lists of leaders in Hollywood. Their latest roster? Hollywood’s 50 Agents of Change. Atop the list that includes the likes of Lee Daniels,
Ava DuVernay, Spike Lee, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, is Tyler Perry, whose dedication to empowering diversity through storytelling continues to shift the industry paradigm.

The directors, writers, producers, actors, and executives were chosen for their individual and collective efforts in shaping a future of film and television that is inclusive and supportive of unheard voices.

With an impressive pedigree of tales marked by diversity and a prolific amount of work that continues to skyrocket him to success, Perry’s pathway in the industry is unlike any other; and with his partnership with Viacom that’s set to lead to the creation of countless television programs, there’s no telling what else is to come.

THR captured a slice of what makes Perry the icon that he is today, and he also shared what he sees as his bravest creative risk: “Buying a 330-acre Army base and turning it into a studio.”
