Some of the good folks at TPS took a little time off from their busy schedule last week to help out with the installation of a painted mural just a stone’s throw from Tyler Perry Studio’s Fort McPherson campus in southwest Atlanta.
A collaboration between Atlanta’s Neighborhood Planning Unit X and local artist Ashley D. Thomas, the massive mural is a welcomed addition to Cleveland Avenue and is representative of the booming and diverse Atlanta arts scene.
A seasoned art teacher as well as a professional artist, Ashley has over 10 years experience working with students in Virginia and the Metro Atlanta area and received the New Manchester Elementary Schoolteacher of the year award just this past year. As the panels of the mural came together, Ashley’s students could be seen putting the finishing touches to the massive installation and waving to the honking commuters passing by on the busy street.
If you are in Atlanta why not check out the mural for yourself at 650 Cleveland Ave.
