Some of the most recognizable voices and faces in entertainment joined Tyler Perry this week in his challenge to post a video singing the old spiritual hymn, He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands. Perry’s goal is a simple one, to offer a calming and peaceful message of hope in the midst of so much tragedy as the Covid-19 global pandemic has touched people, and spread fear across the planet.

“It’s my hope that we add to this simple song in every language from every nation as we let it become a prayer for our whole world! God bless you today. And remember it’s all in God’s hands.”

Perry kicked things off this past weekend delivering a poignant message and getting some help from friends in the gospel community. He started with a few lovely bars of the familiar tune… and yes, he can also sing!

By Tuesday, more artists including Mariah Carey, Queen Latifah, Chloe x Halle, LeAnne Rimes, and Usher had answered the call and began to offer their own versions of the song in what quickly became a much-needed reprieve from the new reality facing so many. “To me, this song is a prayer of humility. It’s telling the world how small we really are in all of this and how we have to trust that it’s all in God’s hands!! So here’s round two as we keep praying for the world!! Feel free to join us!!”
