Description:

From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

I like the idea of this show, but it moves too slow. There is a reason people stopped watching daytime soap operas; they moved too slow. Oddly, I think most folks want to see the good guys win and the bad guys get what's coming to them. Life is really not that way, but that is why entertainment should be. Give me someone to hate and someone to root for in a timely manner!! Just my opinion.

What is going on with Benny, this whole new attitude since waking up from the accident. He is jittery, silly and not being a very good actor

Benny is just happy to be alive! I don't think he's being silly, he's trying to make up for lost time! I predict he and the nurse will get together; but first, he needs to see Candace so she can be filled in on what's been happening. All she knew about Benny was that he was gone from County Hospital when she went to visit him last, and she assumed he was dead and Hannah didn't bother to tell her! After that, she got kidnapped and has been out of the loop! I want him to find out that dear ol' dad tried to have him 'killed' so he could have his liver! Then let's see how much he wants a relationship w/him after that!

always thought that when you are on dialysis it is because of kidney problems not the liver

Hi Tyler; I know Gois blessing you. The show is fabulous. However, I have just a couple of comments. 1) At certain points, especially getting close to finale, it is moving a little slow. 2) I don't get how Candace can be so smart and miss so much. Like how is it she doesn't know about Wyatt hitting her brother or Jim's involvement, I don't see how in her comings and goings she would have missed that.

I can only assume that sooner or later Veronica will get "slapped into next week". It's hard to believe that there is not one character on the show that will stand up to her. Even if Jeffrey doesn't have the will power to accept his homosexuality, allowing his mother to completely dominate him is very sad to watch.

It is painful to watch Spineless Jeffrey. He is an intelligent young man and should have broke by now. The way Veronica bullies him is unbearable! It would be more interesting to have Jeffrey go toe to toe with her, not bow every time. David must get more into saving Jeffrey from his mother.

So, like I posted last week, the hitman used BLANKS! Jim wanted to scare Candace into leaving him alone, and he had her sign those papers just to be on the safe side! I'm really tired of Amanda; she needs to be committed! SHE'S gonna kill somebody, maybe Quincy! He's crazy to get involved w/her! Candace's baby is dead!

Veronica may be a poor excuse for a mother, but I do love how, although she is clearly educated and business-savvy, she can 'go street' on you if necessary! You can take the girl out of the ghetto, but you can't (always) take the ghetto out of the girl! Maggie, look out! You're about to be SERVED! Now as for Jeffrey, this is the perfect time to tell 'Ronica that he's going to live his life and for her to get over it! Actually, I want LANDON to speak up, b/c he's clearly sick of how Veronica treats her son (and him)! Can't wait for tonight! Will be posting afterward for sure! :)

I like Veronica, her son Jeffrey is not g** and he's mad because she knows it. Candice needed money and the child has been sold. Everyone look out because Candice is next Mayor.

Greetings! I'm waiting for another roller coaster ride tonight, Mr. Perry :-) Will tonight's episode hold a candle to last Tuesday's episode? Is there still a story line for Professor Canon, who raped Amanda and Amanda stabbed him at the finale of last season? If not, then there should be closure with this character. Kudos to you, Mr. Perry for a job well done!!! Peace...MJ
