Description:

From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

Love HAHN can't wait until it returns. It is wonderful to see parts of Savannah in the show it makes me proud to live here. Tyler Perry is a great artist, producer, and actor, went to see the play H*** Have No Fury Like A Woman Scorned here in Savannah it was great . Patricia Lovely and Cheryl Riley and the rest of the cast was great, only thing would have made it better was if Tyler himself had came along. Tyler please bring more back to Savannah we love it and thank you from the fans of Savannah. God bless you and your cast members.

Once again, another lesson can be learned from Shonda Rhimes. She has the hit show Scandal which the world loves and supports as evidenced by the massive ratings! When Shonda wanted to air a NEW show, she didn't abuse the fans of Scandal by taking it off the air and attempting to replace it with a new show during the Scandal hiatus. Why, because it would p*** off the fans and they wouldn't watch it. Instead, she airs her NEW show in the hour following the beloved show Scandal. Now her viewers are rewarded with their beloved show Scandal and are all too eager to tune in to the new show on the same night!!! See the genius in that! Both shows are guaranteed to be hits and all the fans of Scandal will undoubtedly tune in to her new show! Now, contrast that to what Tyler has done to us. We have a short, broken, slow moving season of HAHN with not nearly enough of Tika Sumpter who is the ONLY reason ANYONE would watch this show. Then the show ends, leaving the fans hanging in the wind for 6 months. Moments after we find out our beloved HAHN has ended and won't return until 2015, Tyler comes out with a NEW show which he tries to shove down our throats during the HAHN hiatus. Well, that show will flop for sure! HAHN fans are pissed off and most of us will NOT be watching anything on OWN until HAHN comes back on. If Tyler was smart, he would have aired this new show at 10pm to follow the season premier of HAHN, that would probably be the ONLY way to ensure some degree of success for this new show. I agree with the other comments that he is doing way too much! You have a hit, nurture the hit! You have a fan base for the hit, nurture the fan base for the hit! You have the ratings, nurture the ratings! So many people are so angry about HAHN ending and prolonged wait before returning....you are going to slowly lose ratings and fans for what is the best work you have EVER done!

Hi Angel! I agree with every point you made. I wonder if Mr. Perry is even aware of how upset the fans are about having to wait 6 months before we can watch our beloved show HAHN. That was a great suggestion you made about bringing on the new drama"If Loving You Is Wrong" right after HAHN. It's like he has put HAHN on the back burner while he creates this new drama. You are so right, and I've even said this too, he will loose a big part of the fan base for having us waiting 6 months! I wonder how long this new drama will be sticking around? All due respect, Mr. Perry, and this is my opinion, slow down! You are doing too many things almost at the same time! Peace...MJ

Mr. Perry is NOT the owner of OWN network. Who says he can say what airs or when it airs? He's not the boss. There is a budget when doing a TV show also. He can't show HAHN year round. I dont understand all the negative remarks. TV shows come on for a season and take a break and return months later. That's not new.

Even if that is true about Dynasty being on for 8-9 months, that was in the 80's? Time has change and TV has changed. So what is your point about a show that airs how many years ago?

I love show and never miss an episode. I hope David did not sleep with his campaign manager and he finds out everything Veronica has done with the car, Quincy and also that she she has relapsed into her addiction, because she feels pressured from David running for Lt. Governor and Jeffery's sexual orientation. Veronica's addiction would help explain her erratic actions. Her recovery would allow David to help his wife and rebuild his family. Veronica can also learn how to accept people as they are not try to change the situation to suit herself. Next, Benny needs to learn about his father trying to end his life so he could get his kidney. However, after Benny understands the actions of his father, he still offers his kidney, which would show a true Christian spirit. Since, we know of Benny's father, Candace's father needs to be brought into the show as another nemesis and to further explain how Candace became so ruthless. Finally, Jim should win the election, then Wyatt get arrested this time with hard core evidence, all of his extramarital affairs and the paternity of Celine's son are made public.

I absolutely loved the episodes, but I missed the finale. How can I buy it or watch on my computer? I don't know why some think it horrible. I loved all the characters. I thought it was good in most respects. If people hated it, they don't have to watch it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Sorry, but the acting of some of the cast members this season were horrible. I don’t think Tyler put enough time into this season. He’s doing too much, slow down Tyler and take the time to perfect things. Don’t just roll them out like a factory. You birth the characters, now watch them grow. You’re moving too fast. You need to take your time and put time into your shows, let them grow before moving on to something else. THATHN need more of your time. You have actors that need more growth; their acting is not the best. Imo, you need to sit back a minute and work on your writing for one show to make sure they don’t go by the way side like your other shows. You’re not giving your babies time to grow. The acting and the plots are rather sloppy. Candace’s brother: The “awakening,” come on, that could have been dragged out a bit at least for two more episodes then he could have been totally back to himself, another shining example of you rushing yours shows, not giving them time to nurture and grow. To me, you don’t really think things out. A Judge-candidate, running for Governor does not have security around this huge home? No gate, that a bunch of black hood’s could come running up to his front door and no one sees them? Give me a break, don’t insult us. And Hanna, she’s such a saint that she couldn’t understand a child for a child? She would turn on a woman who helped save her son? Imo, it would have been such a heartfelt episode if the two women would have been somewhere crying together about their sons and how each saved the other. And why would you make Vanessa, such a hateful black woman? She can be tough another way. And now I hear you’re working on another show? Why not prefect this one first, pls. you’re doing much too much, slow down and enhance your talent. Ever hear the expression, finish one project before you begin another.

Greeting! So Mr. Perry has a new series coming in September on OWN called "If Loving You Is Wrong" it premieres September ninth. What I don't get is that the show is on for two hours. Why is that? When THATHN premiered last year in May, it was not a two hour premiere. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, since the fans have to wait six months to see THATHN, treat us to a few two hour episodes. What about a two hour episode on January sixth, when the new season resumes. What about that, Mr. Perry, huh? Thanking you in advance. Peace....MJ

MJ, If Loving You Is Wrong is premiering two episodes, A Twisted Affair and Shots Fired on September 9. OWN did the same thing for the series premiere of The Haves and the Have Nots on May 28, 2013 with its first two episodes, The Big Surprise and Playing In The Deep End. Get your facts straight.

Tyler Perry I am 46 years and in my entire life I have never seen a show even come close to being as good as the Halves and Halves not. The actors and actress in this show all posses outstanding ability. I have never missed an episode from day one and never will miss an episode if my heath allows. Words cannot express your outstanding writing skills and your actors acting skills displayed in The Halves and Halves not....

This show is beyond horrible!! Has no one noticed that the people on the show have worn the same clothes all season? The show belongs in a landfill because it is garbage.

Mr. Perry is working on a new drama series coming in September 2014. This could be the reason why the Have and the Have Not will not return until Jan. 2015. If you love his work, support his new original drama series this fall.
