Description:

From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

I have watched this show from the very beginning. I am hooked. I wish the seasons lasted a few more episodes. Love you Mr. Perry!

I am highly disappointed and somewhat confused by one of the recent story lines in The Haves and Have Nots. First, let me say that I am a huge fan of Tyler Perry, both personally and through his works and accomplishments. However, his story of the corrupt police officer putting moves on Jeffrey is completely unnecessary and horrendous. I thought Tyler Perry was most interested in using his works to help bring people together rather than exploit terrible circumstances that can only create more division. There are more ways to bring several of these issues to the forefront without inciting more hard feelings about discrimination against the g** community, misuse and abuse of power, corruption in the police organizations, racial tensions, etc. I am offended, disappointed, confused, and sickened by this use of story line that adds nothing to the show, but rather only assists in causing further animosity and divisions in these areas. I urge Mr. Perry to rethink this story line and end this madness before more harm is done. How can you stand and talk about your personal legacy as being one of peace and unity while creating and advocating these continued discriminations? How sad to think you have taken this tragic turn. Please reconsider this one.

We will never have Justice or defeat ism'ss until we are willing to bring the pink elephant to the forefront. Secrecy is death

Terri, you don't know what you are talking about, however I'll say this much, everybody is entitled to their own opinion and I love the direction that Tyler and his writers are taking with this storyline. Wake up and smell the coffee--this is the 21st century thst we are living in and those thongs are happening every day to our people, or anyone that is not PROTECTED BY THE COMPEXION OR THE COLLECTION $$$$. This is a great media to bring this injustice and sickness to the forefront.

The season finale was promising and much better than the last few, but the storylines are just getting to be drawn out and boring. We will have had another presidential election by the time the Georgia gubernatorial race even starts. The acting is still way over the top and the dialogue and direction amateurish. Tyler needs to really move on. The characters are interesting, but they have limits. New storylines next season -- please. Also, I love the posts praising Tyler as a Christian. I'm not really certain why that is such an issue on this board, but I doubt he worries about his religion much.

So addicted to HAHN, could you lighten up on Jeffrey. It would be nice to see him finish school and use his education to help abused homosexuals with his personal experience. His mother is just too evil to have such a hold over him. His father should encourage him to finish school and get a life. I'm looking forward to June. Stay Blessed, Sharon

Jeffrey isn't in school...he's a THERAPIST @his mother's rehab clinic!!! I admit, he often ACTS like a child where his mother is concerned, but his occupation was established @the very beginning of this show; he was Wyatt's counselor (and friend), who was to make sure Wyatt stayed 'clean' (and he also had a crush on him); didn't you hear him w/the cop? He told him as a therapist, he knew he was 'in the closet' and trying to cover, and urged him to get help! Candace is the one who needs to get her b*** back to law school and graduate, take the bar and move on and take care of little Q, who she claims to love, instead of running w/that high-yella heifer and lying and scheming her way through life!

Lorraine and kevin, DITTO, I am so in agreement with you on that. I love Candy Cane so very much, I guess it's because my life was a mirror of hers, but for the Grace of God he pulled me through, and gave me a WONDERFUL JOB. I'm doing fine now and in August of 20166, l will have worked as a Information Services Specialist/Cataloger for 31 yrs. with the Library system of Newport News, I am eligable, and would like to retire but I'm too young to receive my social security. (I started working at a very young age :) and I have been considering starting a new chapter in life though. Many blessings to Tyler, the OWN network and to all of you that reads my comment.

Hi Tyler. Tuesday nights is my choir rehearsal nights and I missed 48 hours. Not sure why my DVR did not record but is there another way for me to see this episode?

I follow the show only because it is a Tyler Perry product. The show needs to seriously improve in the following areas: 1. The writing has become trite and predictable; 2. Direction is lacking; the actors aren't believable in their delivery; the dialogue is stilted; the timing is off; the responses do not appear to be spontaneous. 2. Hair and make-up artists can do MUCH better work. Give "Candace" a facial so that she can appear without blemishes (acne), and please do a much better job of blending her natural hair into that weave. 3. The only believable acting is coming from "Hanna Young" and, occasionally, "Kathryn".

I like this show for many reasons it is another hit for Tyler Perry I hope he doesn't kill Veronica off what needs to be done is everyone should join together against Jim and teach him a lesson he would never forget please don't kill Wyatt either it would not make any sense to do that now because if that happens then Jim would go free and we don't want that not at all no one needs to die at all we had enough killings this season hopefully you will consider my request also I know others would not want any killing at the end I still love the show keep up the great work this is my favorite

When Hannah told Candace she could no longer be prayed for I almost cried. I was shocked. Might have been the best scene yet. I love Candace and all of her scandolous ways. I may have not hit my mother back, but I understand her pain. I am real upset that Veronica knows about Quincy, he belongs in that backyard buried. I really was hoping Veronica walked through that door and got shot. It is time for her b*** to get off the show. She is just horrible. Oh yea, and let David and Maggie hookup and be a couple. I just plain out do not like Veronica.

I agree with you. I don't think Maggie should have even gone to meet Veronica..she knows that Veronica hates her, and why did'nt she let David know that Veronica had called her?
