I want my precious energy and time back. This was perhaps the most poorly executed drama ( soap opera ) in history of mankind. The title was good, the idea good. The script and acting HORRIBLE. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed. Wow. Rarely do I comment on a new tv series but someone NEEDS to tell the truth and stop kissing your bootie. This was trash. The ONLY believeable charactor was the maid who got Hanna Young her interview with family. Was almost as if each actor / actress read lines from a page while eating cold cereal for the very first time and knowing that diarreah would soon follow from lactose intolorance. I wanted so badly to find something positive to say but really this was an EPIC fail. I watched in it's entirety both episodes one and two.

This show was great and to those of you you clearly don't see that continue to watch it unfold as I'm sure you will have a change of heart. Also, if you have something negative to say make sure you share ideas of how you could improve the series. I like the story line thus far and from the many post below I'm sure the Shows will do great. However, there needs to be some things that the OWN network should fine tune as far as gaining interest to prospective viewers as this show does appeal to the younger professional crowd and hip older generations. I’d like to see this promoted on other networks as in most areas the OWN Channel is in different areas. Also, it might be a good idea to create a m***** list where the OWN channel is for major cable providers and post it to the OWN site and other social media gateways. All of my friends and their friends love the show and I can’t wait to see more. Great work on this!

Actually I think it' s overdue , he is talented , very smart, and favored of ALMIGHTY GOD . you need to stop hating . At the end of the day MY BROTHER HAS GOT L-O-N-G MONEY AND TALENT .I PRAY GOD CONTINUES TO BLESS HIM he has multiply his asset simply because he chosses not to be self centered only thinking of himself each time he writes a play or a movie the very people he uuses he turns around and bless . It's TOO EARLY in the premiere of "The Haves and Have Nots" to be dishing out this much criticism!!!! First of all, the acting was DEAD ON!!!! With a roster that includes Tika Sumpter, John Schneider, and Crystal Fox how could Tyler go wrong!!!!!! In my opinion, "The Haves and Have Nots" is a modern day rendition of "Dynasty." The new actresses and actors making their debut in Hollywood on this series are very talented in their dialogue delivery! Candice & Hanna on the surface appear to be a mother & daughter duo who just don't see "eye to eye," but, in CLASSIC Tyler Perry fashion, it's just a matter of time before we see the journey both characters embarked on in order for them to arrive at their present state. John Cryer is this handsome philandering & narcissistic politician, father, & husband, while his wife, Katheryn, is COMPLETELY oblivious to what's going on. On the surface, The Cryers, are one way, but when Tyler peels the layers back, we'll see just "what is what" about this family. This show had a strong start, DESPITE the critical reviews from HATERS! Oprah & Tyler are winning, espeically with this drama! "Shocked viewer" if you don't like the show, then don't watch it because you WON'T BE MISSED!!!!!!

I did not like the show. I thought the acting was bad. Does it mean that the next shows will be the same; everyone starts from the beginning. I love his movies don't like the TV's shows. I read his emails don't go the plays. If Tyler is asking us to watch his shows, does he expect everyone to like all his work? I love the Lord, I don't like everything he created. If he ask for our feed back what should we say?

I completely agree with " Shocked Viewer " 's assessment. Shame on those who would call him or her a hater for simply expressing their personal opinion. Geez people Tyler Perry is NOT the almighty GOD. He makes mistakes and this certainly qualifies as one of those. This " Have and Have Not's" was prematurely aired for all the world to see. If it had been given ample time to be reviewed and fine tuned prior it may have had a chance. As it stands popular or not the actors bombed. It absolutely sounded as if they read the lines strait from paper to screen for the very first time. No emotion, no passion, no care for timing, was just an awful train wreck I watched. I like Tyler Perry. I did not like this creation of his. I was greatly disappointed as I feel it COULD have been so much more.

It's ok to give your opinion. However, where you went wrong is NOT to understand Tyler Perry's God-given talent of writing, producing , directing and acting. (Ok, he does better writing and producing and directing. He sometimes is a little self-concious when acting) He's 99.9 spot on in all his shows, films, tv work. When I get an email from Tyler that he's done a new work, I make it my business to see it. That work he produces from his heart with blood, sweat and tears touches the lives of his core fans. I haven't had those things happen to me but as former Criminal Justice Counselor and Psychiatric Social Worker, he is dead on. May God richly bless Tyler Perry and yes, you too.

After reading your review I don't feel so bad that DIRECTV choose to mysteriously strip the OWN channel from my lineup (without notification to me) thereby preventing me from being able to view the series from the comforts of my own home, least of course I agree to fork up more money to DIRECTV to get "my" channel reinstated. Thanks for the heads up. I won't even bother myself with trying to view the show now.

This made for TV soap opera was just horrible on so many levels, I agree 110%. let's add .... It felt r***** beyond tolorable. I am myself in the industry and have experienced first hand many amazing projects, a few flops as well. Let us just say; I would be embarrassed to have my name attached to this in any way or form. The reality is this should never ever - ever have made it to air time. Elementary level school aged children with zero experience could act with more emotion. The lighting ... OMG need I say more so so bad. Was so bad I couldn't stop watching. Somehow I imaged that a real show would happen and everyone would laugh at that precurser. To my great dismay.... THAT WAS THE REAL DEAL. Was not entertaining, not funny, and not amusing in the slightest form. I feel ill for having viewed it. Worse yet, I feel violated as well. I am now believing Oprah is no longer of sound mind. I will no longer tune in to anything she promotes. 15+ years respect GONE!

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion; however, you are not being forced to watch any of his work, whether it be t.v. shows, movies, or plays. He is bringing work to his core fans and apparently you are not one, so please don't feel obligated to provide your negative criticism. It seems as if though, you are only watching to see how many mistakes or errors you think he should have not made when directing/producing. If you are a critic, be a critic but leave out all the bashing out because it is not necessary. There is a thing such as positive criticism and for those of you who cannot do that, more than likely it will be labeled as hating. Personally, I do not like every project that he puts out. The one's I don't like, simply put, I just don't watch them again. This show in particularly, I actually love! It is edgy and keeps you thinking what will mischievous Candace do next. Does anybody have to agree?.....no! But, please conjure up some more vocabulary enthused responses, other than your typical horrible, diarrhea as someone said, etc.... If you want to say anything, say something that can help make the show better as a actual viewer or fan.

Every time I think someone is not putting forth the right effort, they come back strong and on point! The characters are 3D and seem so much more indepth than when you first see them! They have so many layers, even Amanda, who I thought was boring, her character is finally coming into her own! Not since Family that preys have I enjoyed so much drama and comedy. Great job!!!! I'm glad there are those who don't feel a need to go along with the status quo. I, too, believe The Haves and the Have Nots is a poorly acted and poorly written show. It's actually very embarrassing. From the judge's deadpanned, monotone delivery to his wrinkled, cheap white shirts to David's fake southern accent to Amanda's simpleton persona to Selena's halted speech to bubble-cheeks (David's wife) fake ire and inability to pull off cleverness. And why does Tyler Perry have to "bite off" of Scandal with the black woman playing the role of the mistress, vixen, and all-around skank? Where are the positive, uplifting programs? It certainly can't be found in Love Thy Neighbor. There is NOTHING funny about that show -- and that's my assessment from just the commercials. Tyler, why are you perpetuating such IGNORANCE? I always considered you better than that. You are feeding your people slop ... and they're eating it. Not me.

Ignorance means lack of knowledge and it appears that you are ignorant to the reality of what really goes on in the real world and let it be known not just with judges but plenty of WHITE men in very important seats are with BEAUTIFUL BLACK women. However, at least all you haters took the time to watch the show and also comment on it. I found myself glued to the TV diagnosing Veronicas issue of rejection, past hurts, unforgiveness and domineering, Jezebel spirit, not to mention hurting people hurt people. It was a tearful and intense moment watching Veronica totally reject her own seed. You touched on so many of todays ills, adultery, fornication, addiction, homosexuality, abuse and misuse of power/money, and I could go on. I have enjoyed every episode and make a point to have my schedule free to allow me to watch each episode unfold. There's one little problem - my Tuesdays are a bit empty waiting on the new episodes in January. However, all good things are worth waiting for. Be Blessed, this too is a "Winner"

Being a parent where my son questions his sexuality this put things in perspective for me to see both sides. It does come off as like a low budget type but I like the soap opera feel to it. Hopefully it expands to something more. Thus far I love the show. I agree there is a right way to give negative feedback. Well Tyler, with the haters watching the raters can keep counting. I bet there are more haters watching than non-haters. They have to stay tuned in to know what they're hating. So to that...You are doing a D**ned good job, especially when you can cause your haters to tune in. And the one that liked the maid...all he needs is one character you like enough to watch it. Tyler you are amazing. Just get the people to act less scripted on your other T.V. shows and they'll do great. Tell them to get into character learn their lines and work it, be it, and relate it to something in their lives. It's getting better every time I watch it. Soon you'll have everyone watching. And yes, it is funny that the haters can find all of your websites; know the names of all of your shows; and follow you and Oprah. I've been watching all the episodes (1-26) as I think all new shows deserve a chance. I think networks cancel shows way to early. I do, however, feel the acting leaves a lot to be desired. I've just watched episode #26 and the acting hasn't gotten any better. Someone mentioned that maybe there was such a rush to get it on air that possibly they didn't have time to review it. Especially bad are the characters, daughter Amanda Cryer (probably the worst), the son Wyatt Cryer, the friend Jeffrey Harrington and the maid Celine. I think the rest of the cast could use acting classes to 'refresh'. I, also, find it to be slow in spots, some scenes drag out more than necessary, which isn't the actors fault. All in all it could be a good show with a little bit of work from the actors and the writers. I have a friend that has watched it and says it's so unbelievably bad that she watches it much like one looks at a car wreck, you can't help but look. I plan on hanging in there with the show but hope by season 2 the acting has improved as well as those slow, drug out scenes. I do like and respect Tyler Perry but this one needs some work. I will say to Mr. Perry that his other show, Love Thy Neighbor, is the epitome of bad acting and writing. As I mentioned earlier I try to give all new shows a chance but this one I simply couldn't do it, it's just too bad. I'm sorry for the bad review on LTN but then it is just one person's opinion. Looking forward to season 2 of The Haves and The Have Nots.

Mr. Perry isn't a shallow person and for all of those who defend his work against the na-sayers or for those who has had negative reviews about his work, he's not shocked or appauled, but grateful. Can I speak for Mr. Perry? No, I can't but I'm certain that Mr. Perry would be inclined to agree with my comment. Let me assure those of you who have had constructive criticism about Mr. Perry's work, it would be well received from Mr. Perry. He has asked for our comments. Mr. Perry has never taken any credit without acknowledging those that has helped to make it all possible, and that would include all of us, all of the positive supporters as well as the negative supporters... yes, the negative supporters. Because if you are taking the time to watch his work, whether "The Haves and The Have Nots" or "Love Thy Neighbor" or "Meet The Browns" or "House of Payne" or whatever else he's produced and/or created, you are a supporter. As far as the truly negative comments, well... I'm sure that Mr. Perry would simply over-look them and keep you in prayer. I believe that "The Haves and The Have Nots" is the best work that Mr. Perry has created. I love it and I'm looking forward to having it around for years to come, just as Dallas, Dynasty, and any other night-time soap opera. Whether it's a soap or just another drama-laden series, it's great work! I was only slightly disappointed in the characters that played the mother and grandfather of the little girl that was hit and died. Their acting to me fell short. But then again, I'm not critizing, it's my opinion. And just as everyone else's opinion that's been given, I'm entitled. God Bless you Mr. Perry for the work that you've done, are doing, and have yet to unvail. I already know that this is the fruit of your labor and the favor of God on your life. To God be the Glory for the Great things that He has done in your life and with your Work!

I'm not a fan of soap opera's but this is the deal. Every Tuesday night I go over my cousin's house and we watch the show. I leave work early just to see it. Since I don't have cable, yes that's right I don't have cable this is a must see. I look forward to seeing this and when it was between seasons I was devastated. Thank you Mr. Perry for adding some real excitement to my life. Sincerely, Ora A. Townsend 1BMW (1 Blessed, Magnificent, Woman)

Well, to each his own. Look this is a "soap opera". Just that! I'mm sorry that you don't like this show. But there are those of us that do! I'm one of those people. It's just entertainment, so stop taking it so seriously! I love the cast and the complcations and the good vibe that is occuring in thier lives in this show. I wish I could be right there in the studio to see how this wonderful cast brings their charaters to life! They must have a blast!

It's TV and yet real in most worlds. Obviously you are living in your own world. Loosen up please. What makes you such a pro on acting? Maybe some of them needed a little help, but for the most part the acting is very good. People like you need to just read a book and leave TV to those who have an imagination and the insight to understand that this is life. I'm answering for Mr Perry: Ok, whatever!

Whoever the 'shocked and disgusted person' is/was should just change the station. This is my absolute favorite show of all time. You leave it alone!!

I love The Haves & The Haves Nots. I was disappointed when the July 1st episode was just the series starting over. I was so excited to see the continuation from June 24 ending or I have to look at reruns already. Thank you and May god continue to bless you

To each it's on but asking for time and energy back is going a little bit to far. You should have know form the 1st series if you disliked the show. The question is why didn't you just turn to another channel or turn the Tv off?
