Hey Tyler. I really like your movies but I have a challenge for you: You've portrayed a lot of characters in your movies but most of them, (aside from Madea) were doctors; lawyers, corporate executives. Why not try to broaden your horizons (respectfully) by playing a character simular to what you've endured during your time of abuse.. If I had your opportunity, wealth and know-how, I for one would place myself in a role simular to the abuse that I have endured as a child which I'm sure would be most therapeutic. I know you need no help in this department but would love to share ideas (free of charge). Or maybe I should write a book. :-) May GOD continue to bless you in all aspects and continue to empower your strength and spirit.

I think that is a great idea. It would really push the envelope for Mr. Perry. However, I think since it is a sensitive subject that only time will help him decide if he is ready to put that on screen about his own life before somebody else tries to do that for him. In meantime, I think he is doing an awesome job with a variety of different roles that typecast people in different ways. I am sure he will continue to be creative in his projects.

I think that's a great suggestion but Mr. Perry has played other roles besides a doctor or lawyer. In "The Family That Preys" he was a construction worker, he also produced and I think directed etc. for Colored Girls which deals with abuse. He touches on these subjects, maybe hasn't played the parts directly himself but has directed others and has probably touched on many aspects of the human weaknesses and spirit. Keep doing what your doing, I myself love, love, love your movies and find that my time and money have been well spent! God bless and have a great Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I was just about type the same sentiment. I think Tyler Perry does an excellent Job of bringing inspiration to people, of telling their stories.

Mr. Perry has touched on the subject of abuse and children dealing with people trying to abuse them. For example: I can do Bad by Myself has a aunt's boyfriend trying to rape her niece. In the play Madea Goes to Jail deals a child father is a pimp and wants to put his daughter on the streets to work. In the play Laugh to keep from crying has another child who own father forces her to get on the streets even though she did not know he was her father. For Color Girls...the movie, the play and poems speak for themselves. Just because it isnt his own story, it is still his story brought through other characters.
