This Little Letter Changed My Life

I did something about a year ago that was so liberating and freeing. You should try this. I'm telling you, it will help you.

I was asked by CBS This Morning to do a segment called "Note To Self". It's where you write a letter speaking to your younger self. Have you ever done this? If not, you should. What would you say to the child that you used to be? I'm telling you, it's amazing. Try it. Let me know how it moves you. Here's the link to the one that I did.

As, I was looking on facebook I came across the post you did about writing to your younger self and I did that and it showed me how far God as bought me. And you are more than welcome to read it I have uploaded it on my page on facebook. It will be cool if I can add you as an friend on there trust me I am not wired nor do I want anything just to share thoughts and writing. Encouragements! I always say You are not your past! You are more than what others say or think so hold your head up and walk!

Dear Tyler Perry,I have done this. And I am glad that I did. I was literaly in tear. If I would have known back then what I know now! um... um.. ummm... Not to say that when I was a child I was the type to get into trouble. When I was little I was the most shiest child that anyone could meet. I was always scared to talk to and in front of people. It was to the point where when people would say hello I would bust out in tears. I am still shy now, but I am a whole lot better than what I used to be. In this letter I basiclly told my younger self that its ok to talk in front of people. And there's nothing to be afraid of.

Dear Mr. Tyler, I know i shouldn't ask you this but i don't know where else to turn. I am a single mother of three, who just got out of a violent relationship with their father. I left with nothing but my kids and their clothes. I had to move in with my parents. Where they live you can't get a job without a car because they are to far away. We don't have taxi out here either. I am just trying to get on my feet so i could get my own house. If there is any way you can help me would mean the world to me. My number is

Mr Perry, that letter you wrote to your little self is so inspirational and loving. God has blessed the boy you were for you to become the man you are today. For all that you've been through and to rise above all adversities, you must have had faith, and I know you still do. Continue believing in God, and be proud of the individual he led you to become.

Tyler, Thank you so much for that letter. It is encouraging. You have me in tears because it is awesome. I am proud to see another black man encouraging me as a black male to push past the hurt and pain and do something to encourage other people especially black men.
