I Thank God For Closed Doors

When I wake up in the morning and see the sunrise as I’m running, I thank God for new mercies every day. As I was running this morning I started thinking about this and you know how much I like to share my morning thoughts… LOL

I was out just thinking about my life and all the times that I wished that a door had opened. All the times I had promoters and people lie to me saying that they would help me... I remember wishing the bank would approve my loan request for a house or a car (usually one I couldn’t afford at the time). I wished that this person would help me or that person would do something to help my business, or this person would help my dreams come true.

As I look back now I’m so glad that none of those situations worked out. I’m so glad God closed those doors because they forced me to find the right path for me. If you’re in this situation and you feel like doors are closing all around you and you are frustrated, here’s something I’d like you to think about: Life can be like a living maze. You know what a maze is. In a maze, you start out at one end and your objective is to find your way to the finish line.

Many times you may make a turn and hit a dead end and you have to go another way. Just like life, that door closing on you sends you another way. It doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen, it just means you need to go another way. If you keep moving, eventually you will get to where you’re going.

Another thing that is important when you’re in a maze, as in life, is to remember where you have been. If you get turned around and confused in a maze, in order to get out, you have to remember the dead-ends that you have already hit. Just like in life you have to remember all the doors that were closed so you don’t waste time going that way again. If you want to get to your dreams you can’t expect to get there by doing the same thing and going to the same spots. You must try something different. I’m not saying give up on your dream, I’m saying try another path to the same dream. Same maze, same dream, but take a different direction to get there.

I feel sorry for people who have a dream and give up because it gets hard. Let me tell you something, "IT’S GOING TO GET HARD!" And my answer to that is, "SO WHAT? MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!" Don’t stop because a door closed. I have learned to thank God for closed doors. You have to know that if God wanted you to go that way, no man could close that door. But for some reason he allowed that door to be closed, but if that one was closed I assure you that there is one that is open somewhere. And it’s the right one. Don’t stop until you are living your dream.

Is this helping anybody?

Wow. Nice message. Tyler, I have a simple question. ALL the old school successful people who were icons in their day played in some of your movies like Maya Angelou;Phylica Rashad;and etc... what about Will Smith? I was watching Jimmy Kimmel tonight who interviewed him asking about this new movie coming in #3 and Wil Smith made a light joke about it with a very positive attitude about not being #1 which is his first time. Did you ever think of asking Wil Smith to play in any of your movies? I think he lost his ninch with this last movie. I don't have cable to see your new show yet. I think its time for someone like yourself to bring back good family shows on television like Bill Cosby did in the 80s and how The Fresh Prince of Bel Air was such clean family comedy and pure entertainment. Counting on Christians like yourself to bring it on. God Bless your heart and may you continue to be prosperous in Gods kingdom and way. Sincerely A #1 fan of Jesus first and praying people like you God will use to bring them to HIMSELF.

Hi Tyler. Doors have been slammed shut in my face countless times and it made me falter and ask God"Why Me?". Because He's got a greater purpose for me. And somehow He's led me to it. Thank you for the inspirational words. I constantly look forward to your emails

Hey Tyler, I just want to thank you for being an inspiration to so many, but especially me. I'm not going to bother going into a long drawn out story, but let me just say this.....I relate to you on so many levels. Our stories are kind of similar, yet different. The common thread is knowing within my heart that I'm destined for greatness, but constantly encountering closed doors. In spite of all that I've been through, there's an inward drive and tenacity that is God-given and I still have my JOY! He (God) won't let me quit, even when I feel like I should. Thanks again for the post....it spoke directly to me and where I am on my quest to purpose! I look forward to getting the chance to meet you one day. Be blessed, and know that you are in my prayers. I pray that God continue to bless you and cause the works of your hands to prosper! Take care! Derrick

Hello Tyler Perry Awesome message, just recently had a plan to purchase new equipment for my home studio for promoting young underground artist, designing mix tape graphic covers for sales and distribution, well it did not happen. The car dealership says we have a vehicle ready for purchase, me and the children needed transportation like a mother bird need a nest. Then I took my sisters advice to further my education in graphic designs at Fresno City College, received my schedule last week, classes begin August 2013. At first "if anyone know me" I was sad yet thankful to GOD, I love making beats so much I wanted to rise to the next level with better equipment, wanting my cake and eat it too. I will take your advice given about the maze of Life, remember my dead ends and closed doors so that I want return to them again. I will continue to pray for you and pray for me Beloved!!!

Thank you for the word of encouragement. It is very refreshing and inspiring. I am a single mother who recently graduated with my master's degree in Nonprofit Management/Leadership. The reason for this field is that I am very passionate about working for a good cause, and my dream is to work for a nonprofit organization which I feel is committed in making a difference in the lives of thers. Moreover, to someday start my own nonprofit organization. Currently I am unemployed, I have been job seeking for more than a year. Please note: I have never work for a nonprofit organization. That being said, I am trying to transition from for-profit to nonprofit sector. In short, I have applied for so many jobs; unfortunately, many employers have turned me down due to lack of work experence in nonproft. Although I know that God has a great job in store for me; however, there are times I feel very discouraged and not sure which direction to go with my life. After reading this message, it gives me hope to keep looking and not give up! Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. I believe the same God who had exercised his power in your life, and opened doors for you to live your dreams is able to do the same for me. Again, thank you for sharing your testimony. God Bless you! Myrlande

Hello, I am new to this. But I found Tyler Perry and I like him and his work. I am writing this to you about your dilemma. Try looking into a neighborhood association in your area. This will help to get you started in the nonprofit area.

Yes, please keep writing. I really enjoyed this and the "frustrated dreamers" post. It is so hard to keep believing in a dream with so many setbacks and closed doors. I look at your life and know there is hope.

I get what you are saying Tyler and I thank God for all those doors that have been shut for me.Everything happens for a reason .And everything has a season.I have come to realise that EVERYTHING in life is divinely ordained.I thank God for closed doors because if it had not been for God ,I do not know were I would have been .
