I Thank God For Closed Doors

When I wake up in the morning and see the sunrise as I’m running, I thank God for new mercies every day. As I was running this morning I started thinking about this and you know how much I like to share my morning thoughts… LOL

I was out just thinking about my life and all the times that I wished that a door had opened. All the times I had promoters and people lie to me saying that they would help me... I remember wishing the bank would approve my loan request for a house or a car (usually one I couldn’t afford at the time). I wished that this person would help me or that person would do something to help my business, or this person would help my dreams come true.

As I look back now I’m so glad that none of those situations worked out. I’m so glad God closed those doors because they forced me to find the right path for me. If you’re in this situation and you feel like doors are closing all around you and you are frustrated, here’s something I’d like you to think about: Life can be like a living maze. You know what a maze is. In a maze, you start out at one end and your objective is to find your way to the finish line.

Many times you may make a turn and hit a dead end and you have to go another way. Just like life, that door closing on you sends you another way. It doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen, it just means you need to go another way. If you keep moving, eventually you will get to where you’re going.

Another thing that is important when you’re in a maze, as in life, is to remember where you have been. If you get turned around and confused in a maze, in order to get out, you have to remember the dead-ends that you have already hit. Just like in life you have to remember all the doors that were closed so you don’t waste time going that way again. If you want to get to your dreams you can’t expect to get there by doing the same thing and going to the same spots. You must try something different. I’m not saying give up on your dream, I’m saying try another path to the same dream. Same maze, same dream, but take a different direction to get there.

I feel sorry for people who have a dream and give up because it gets hard. Let me tell you something, "IT’S GOING TO GET HARD!" And my answer to that is, "SO WHAT? MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!" Don’t stop because a door closed. I have learned to thank God for closed doors. You have to know that if God wanted you to go that way, no man could close that door. But for some reason he allowed that door to be closed, but if that one was closed I assure you that there is one that is open somewhere. And it’s the right one. Don’t stop until you are living your dream.

Is this helping anybody?

This is very helpful, because I have been in a maze for an entire year as of July 27, 2013. I am highly skilled and experienced in my career field, yet I have had to resign from one job and can't seem to find an open door anywhere in Houston, in spite of the fact there are many jobs in administration all over this city. So, I've decided to embark on a "new" career pathway in the film and entertainment industry. Lord nows how many closed doors I will continue to bump into trying to enter this field. However, what you say is true, Tyler! Doors are closed for a reason, and doors are enabled to open for a reason. However, all opportunities that are closed and opened are positioned by a "higher power," and until my patience aligns with his time of readiness, I will remain in my maze, no matter how much I continue to scurry around anxiously applying for principal jobs, looking for that open door, that open clearance to the exit of the maze. Opportunity will avail itself only when HE is ready for me to receive it . Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Speaking of closed doors, I have always loved to go to church. Well, around 2002 a pastor in memphis started a new church. At that time I was about 19 years old when he started the church and it was mostly young adults. People were joining the church every sunday. I am talking about 30 or 40 people every sunday. I did not join until I was 22 years old. I came from a baptist background and he formed his church on the chrisitan faith. Well what hurt me is that one sunday he made a bullentin that said his church was for people 30 and under after I had already joined the church. Well as the years went by I felt that I had to leave when I turned 30 years old. It is like I could never pull up from that one bullentin that he made. So what I did when I tuned 30 I decided to go back to the church (First Baptist) that I went to when I was a little girl. It is like when that door closed for me GOD left another door open for me. Everyboday in my church still looks the same. The same people are still there today as when I was a little girl and it is like I never left. My granddad still attends but I would have never thought that I would go to the same place that my parents and I left years ago. I realized that door never closed for me. I thank GOD that I had somewhere to go back to. GOD is so amazing. I guess at the time I thought that the grass was greener on the other side and it wasn't. All the doors that were open to me then are still open to me now I just have to keep my faith that GOD knows what is best for me even when I don't. I thank GOD that he closed the door to that church and left the door open at my home church. May GOD bless you Tyler.

Tyler, You do realize that this is a ministry your have in your hands thats why God had to make sure you get here and do what you are doing now. Especially because most of your work reaches out to all indiscriminately.... I say this because earlier this week I was exploring your website and I stumbled upon this article " I thank God for close doors". Believe it or not it did speak to my situation, I'm trying to buy a house and I can't seem to get something I want. The ones I like are obviously way beyond my budget. After this reading this, I've been thanking God for closed doors because I know he has a good plan for me. I was also watching a podcast from a great man of God who also echoed the exact sentiment and he used an example of when he was buying a house. Lol This is my Rhema right here... May God continue to use to bless and inspire more. Stay blessed

MAAANNN.... I needed to hear that this is the second post that I have read from you today and all I need to do is apply what you're saying and keep my faith in God continue to pray hard and I will probably just make something out of myself! the door that I am searching for is the door to audition for you.. it is a dream that I have that I am going to continue to try... even if I have to go to/ through different doors. and even though I get beat down so much and I want to throw in the towel... I have to keep trying to figure out my life's maze one way or the other... thankYOU.

Tyler, thank you for being an inspiration..... This last year has been tough.. I lost my husband 3 months ago, he was only 49. But GOD has seen me through... I also was able to look back on my life and see the maze and now I am trying another path to get to the dreams and purpose that God has for me.... Things that I put on hold for the last 10 years..... Keep being an inspiration..... Blessings to you!

Tyler, You are right I had to close one widow to come to this widow to write. I don't know what she was saying, I could not make sense of it and my post is in the middle of her ranting, ugh! Good night that's all and keep it going strong, I will be there soon.

I had just come back to say that, wow. I would have never believed it until I came on this site. But from all of the sense that did not make sense to me I learned something from it. Even though it is that persons sense to make us understand what they are trying to say, I made sense out of her none sense because I did not get what the heck she was really saying. Long story short, I learned to make sense out of somebody none sense so that it could make sense to me and in her nonsense I found something's. Life is surprisingly amazing. I thank God for non sense and it was proven that it's not that common or is it? I have to further agree that some just do not know how to self express in ways we understand, but to them it's their self expression and they stay true to it. It's us that need to follow their nonsense to make it a perfect self expression when they don't make sense to US. God forgive me for attacking someone else self expression and when I closed that window you opened up this window and all night I had reflected back to what I said about that women and now I send her THANKS for that closed window. It feels good to learn and to add to my self expression amen

Tyler, This is exactly what I needed to hear. I am a college student that grew up from nothing. Everything that I wanted to do or have in life I had to work hard for. It was frustrating growing up with little help. Working hard towards a goal just to hit a dead end. Everyone who said that they were going to help me didn't always come through. I have been turned down from so many opportunities in my life. It has made me stronger because now I won't let anything stop me. With God I believe that I can accomplish anything in life. I needed to read this today because I never quite understood why these doors were closing on me so much. I get it now! Thank you! God is truly using you to touch people like me through your talents and wise words. You are an inspiration for me.

Hi Tyler, I was reading this and was in awe of how close to home this hit. I was just thinking last week why does it always seem that nothing works out for me or is it fair just because I am a single parent that I may have to tell my child he can't finish college because I can't afford it. When is it going to be my time. So, so tired of this. Thanks for your inspiring words.

God bless you abundantly Tyler Perry! May His glory shine upon you always!

WOW!!!! JUST WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR! As i write now, i was in the verge of giving up...why? because all doors seems to be closed on me. I have a dream of becoming a motivational speak all around the world speaking to the youth specifically and also making a movie about my life story which i believe will bring awareness to both parents and those who aspire to be parents about the power of right and wrong foundations. Am currently a minister of the word to the youth in Kenya and nothing else motivates me like telling the youth about the power of making Jesus the foundation of your life and motivating them to become whom God created them to be. I know after reading your story that my dream will one day come true in Jesus Name! Mark 11:24
