I Thank God For Closed Doors

When I wake up in the morning and see the sunrise as I’m running, I thank God for new mercies every day. As I was running this morning I started thinking about this and you know how much I like to share my morning thoughts… LOL

I was out just thinking about my life and all the times that I wished that a door had opened. All the times I had promoters and people lie to me saying that they would help me... I remember wishing the bank would approve my loan request for a house or a car (usually one I couldn’t afford at the time). I wished that this person would help me or that person would do something to help my business, or this person would help my dreams come true.

As I look back now I’m so glad that none of those situations worked out. I’m so glad God closed those doors because they forced me to find the right path for me. If you’re in this situation and you feel like doors are closing all around you and you are frustrated, here’s something I’d like you to think about: Life can be like a living maze. You know what a maze is. In a maze, you start out at one end and your objective is to find your way to the finish line.

Many times you may make a turn and hit a dead end and you have to go another way. Just like life, that door closing on you sends you another way. It doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen, it just means you need to go another way. If you keep moving, eventually you will get to where you’re going.

Another thing that is important when you’re in a maze, as in life, is to remember where you have been. If you get turned around and confused in a maze, in order to get out, you have to remember the dead-ends that you have already hit. Just like in life you have to remember all the doors that were closed so you don’t waste time going that way again. If you want to get to your dreams you can’t expect to get there by doing the same thing and going to the same spots. You must try something different. I’m not saying give up on your dream, I’m saying try another path to the same dream. Same maze, same dream, but take a different direction to get there.

I feel sorry for people who have a dream and give up because it gets hard. Let me tell you something, "IT’S GOING TO GET HARD!" And my answer to that is, "SO WHAT? MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!" Don’t stop because a door closed. I have learned to thank God for closed doors. You have to know that if God wanted you to go that way, no man could close that door. But for some reason he allowed that door to be closed, but if that one was closed I assure you that there is one that is open somewhere. And it’s the right one. Don’t stop until you are living your dream.

Is this helping anybody?

Hi Tyler, you always inspire me and I truly appreciate your thoughts. I am in the process of writing a novel about hope and strength through God's Love. I stay encouraged because I believe it's inspired by God; I mean sometimes I feel as if I'm the scribe and He is dictating His words for me to write. I am glad God has placed you in my life even if it is only through social media but the most important thing is that you are here. I know I'm going to me you some day when it is in God's plan and His perfect timing but until then "STAY ENCOURAGE and CONTINUE TO ENCOURAGE ; ) Priscella

Tyler, it encouraged me. I'm a Christian fiction author still waiting on "the call" and needed this reminder more than you know. God love you, brother.

Tyler thank you so much for sharing this message! God used you to help others, because your message helped me to keep going through my maze until I fulfill my dreams! You're a blessing to me for this message! Thank God for bringing me some encouragement!!!!

What are you trying to say, Mr. Perry? That I need to stop asking you for help? (LOL). That it is up to me to make my own dreams come true? That every time I knock on your door, it will remain closed? And, talking about a maze, I find it a-MAZING that you never answer back (LOL). Like a dead end (smile). But seriously though, I realize that you cannot help everybody, and I sincerely appreciate your words of inspiration and encouragement. They may just be the antidote I need to get me out of the slump that I am in and back to pressing forward again. Thank you so very much, and may all of your dreams come true. God's blessings.

Hello Mr. Perry. I totally agree that when you have closed doors, there will be another one that will be open just for you. The right door. I am going through this experience right now. It is very rough trying to reach my dreams. Through Christ everything is possible. God will have the final word. It's not over until he says it is over. Pray for me.

Thank you as my heart is full and tears fall.I lost my teaching job after 39 years.I have taught in Europe and throughout the U.S.Its sad to think that wisdom is no longer appreciated but as Tremaine Hawkins sings I never lost my hope,my joy,my faith,I never lost my praise .

Mr. Perry, I appreciate this email, it speaks to what I am going through now. I recently graduated with my MFA in film and have been looking for work and also put my short film into festivals, and it can be discouraging when you don't get the call back, or the notice of acceptance. And you know I know about the false promises people make when it comes to this field lol Sometimes faith can be tested when your dreams seem so far from the reality that surrounds you at the moment, but your words were very encouraging and truly lifted my spirits. Thank you, in my heart I know my path is being paved, this was a great reminder!

Tyler, This has really helped me. I feel as though there is something greater for me. Actually I know it is. Ok, so here's a breakdown, I get married at 26, husband leaves me at 7 months of pregnancy for another woman (imagine coming home from work to an empty house), divorce with child at 27... nasty divorce and child custody, had an affair which led to a dream to help my lover find his father that he never knew for 30 years (true story); got cleaned up from that saga in my life as if I did not know any better, went through a purification period, relocated from Ohio to DC, then from DC to Atlanta and then to DC landing right back in Atlanta (where my roots are....I have 100 deceased relatives buried in Fayetteville at the Penson Cemetary) and God sends me the husband that I needed after 25 years of being single. Won't he do it? Chasing dreams and promotions all while at the same time finding myself and completing a BA in Psychology, Masters in Administration and PhD, ABD in management and had done a little acting in a church play playing a key role. Amazing how my mess has become my ministry Now I am headed to the Ministry and will soon publish several books. Talk about a maze! So yes, I feel ya on this one! Love ya. P.S. Not asking for any favors this time. I'll be supporting your shows "Love thy Neighbor" and the "Have and Have Nots" which I simply find intriguing and reminds me of the black version of the "Young and the Restless".

I understand and I believe and I'm all ready to go! But I'm scared, I need help in getting out of my comfort zone. As babies we aren't born to fear, fear is taught and I'm sad to say, well I'm just telling the truth I'm scared, nervous and sometimes I actually feel I don't deserve happiness because I haven't been obedient to all the laws of my Father GOD. How can someone willing to die or kill for their country be scared? I'm human but I will reflect and meditate on the. Message... thank you.

I'm assuming our comments should only be for Tyler on this page, but I really want to just encourage Angela from Detroit. Everyone is aquainted with fear but the trick is to not let it stop you, I know easier said than done. When it comes to fear you have to just change your mind on the matter and truly decide to go another way. I understand what its like to fear but once you decide to not let it handicap you, you will reap the benefits of the decision that you made. If you think about it, fear is just the assumption of what you THINK could happen, but you won't know if you don't push past it. I would like to recommend a small booklet for you called " Do it Afraid" by Joyce Meyer, I think it will help you. Also, from your letter it sounds like you are a soldier or in the military in some capacity. Guess what? I'm pretty sure you were afraid when you made that choice to enlist, but your spirit and inner man, allowed you to do it anyway. You did it afraid, yea you! Lastly, you said you need help to get out of your comfort zone...Well, Angela, its not really comfortable there for you at all. That phrase itself is just an oxymoron in your life. Why do I say that? Well, if you were really experiencing " comfort" you wouldn't even have a desire to know what's on the other side of fear. With that being said, someone who you don't even know is pulling for you and believes that you too can conquer fear & achieve your dreams.... Peter sank but he still is being talked about and remembered today because he was willing to go. Concentrate on 1Ttimothy 1:7. God bless you, now go soar!

  • Michelle Atlanta,GA hear you talking

I hear you speaking Tyler...I am originally from Chicago, just relocated to Atlanta a couple of months age. Thing got pretty bad as far as a Job, Finances, and a Home to where I had to trust my husband and move. I didn't have a clue what was gonna happen with my life, but I knew I had to take a different direction in order to get something different. So I have went back to school after 26yrs, and praying for a Job. I was at Church Sunday and just want to leave something with you that the Minister left with me. She said " Do something you never did, to get something you never Had !!! This is the direction I'm heading in and will not look back at those Close Doors.....

  • Anybody maze
