Due To Circumstances That I Can't Control...

Unfortunately, due to circumstances that I can't control, we've had to cancel this leg of the Madea Gets A Job tour.

Here's why. I set a ticket price for the show starting at $25. The reason I set the price so low is so that everyone could get a chance to come out and see the show. I know how tight things are right now. I GET IT! I do not tour to make a living, I tour because I love staying connected to all of you. I love seeing your faces, hearing you laugh and seeing you enjoy yourselves. It gives me great joy. Even though it's a lot of work, I really don't mind doing it. Because of that, what I do is make sure that the promoter sets a reasonable ticket price and the prices are $25, $45 and $65. Even though I set these prices so that they are affordable, fees are added that are out of my control and the price of the tickets can almost double. Add to that, when you go online looking for tickets, IN LOTS OF CASES, you are being led to a bootlegger and you don't even know it. There are a lot of ticket bootleggers and scalpers that buy lots of shows and sell them to the public for double, sometimes triple the price. I've been dealing with this for years but now with the internet I've never seen it this bad.

Also, there are some horrible people who are pretending to be me or representing me on Facebook and charging people money to do a meet and greet on the tour. They are telling people that they are me or working for me and charging them $150 for a meet and greet after the play.  DON'T FALL FOR THIS!! That's not me.

This is so frustrating! Why are people so evil? Why can't people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time? If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing they could make it. It's so sad.

To all of you who have bought tickets and made plans to be there I am so sorry. I really am but my hands are tied.

This was the last live Madea tour and I'm super sorry that you won't get to see it live. All refunds should be given back to you.

Mr. Perry. My family are big fans and I applauded you for sticking to you convictions and not allowing the money machine to rule. I am so sad though because it was my daughters birthday and I wanted to surprise her with this play. I will ALWAYS support your endeavors you are definately a positive role model of what trusting in God and hard work can produce. Again , I applauded and support you I your decision. Stay blessed!

WOW!!! Mr. Perry, I'm so lost for words at this time. I must admit, I do not blame you the the decision you had to make. However, it was truly upsetting to hear the news this morning. I purchased tickets for one of your New York shows and had to make every necessary adjustment to take the day off from work and make babysitting arrangements. Once again, it's not your fault, but breaking the news to my girldfriend was not an easy task. Finally, eventhough we are getting a refund, it was always about the experience of seeing you live since we truly are fans. Good Luck with all of your future endeavors!

Will there be a live recorded Dvd for sale for Madea gets a job? We own all the other plays and would love to have the opportunity to see this as we were going to the show in Tampa Florida

That is so sad! Laughter is such good medicine for all of us right now! I'm so glad that I was able to see the play in Chicago before all this madness transpired. My husband and I was losing our home and had to be out within 4 days, in addition to me being 6 months pregnant! This was my very first Tyler Perry play I've seen live! I have to agree with Mr. Perry and his stand to bring affordability to his plays!

Hello Tyler how are you doing? you know it is really sad how people try to use celebs like you for money or just to make a profit that is something i would never do because i believe in caring for a person for who they are and trying make sure that they are happy and satisfied because i feel that even though we do need money to live that it is not more important than love, happiness and well-being....be strong and keep doing what you do boy!!!Love ya tyler!!!!

Greetings Tyler, I was devastated to hear that your final play had been canceled. I brought tickets for my friend's B-Day, and was so excited to finally see you in person. I wanted to thank you for responding to your fans even though so many are disappointed in your decision. I do understand the difficult decision you had to make, even though I was looking so many fans were looking forward to seeing you one more time. I do look forward to purchasing the DVD when it goes on sale. I wish you well and thank God for using you in such an extraordinary way, you are truly an amazing man of God. Wishing nothing but the best for your future. Peace & Blessings!!!

Hi Tyler, Just found out the show i bought tickets for(in milwaukee wi) has been canceled. I have a disabled daughter that loves anything Madea and the tickets were her 22nd birthday present. She was so excited about going. Not shure how to explain this to her in a way she will understand. I also read you were no longer doing the Madea plays. So sad to hear that!

By canceling this tour, you're not sending a message to bootleggers, you're sending a message to your fans. If every form of entertainment ceased operations because of bootleggers, there would be no concerts, football games, NBA, DVD's etc... You make yourself seem like you don't care about your fans or that you think you are better than every other industry dealing with these same issues. I am a fan, but I am just being honest.

Hi Tyler, I am so disappointed. It's so sad that people have to stoop to such levels which causes other people to suffer. All we can do is pray for them. I do hope that you plan on touring in the near future.

Hi Mr. Perry I did purchase tickets to your show the same day they went on sale. My mom saw your ad in a newspaper and cut it out and brought it to my attention saying "I know my bday is in November, but I already know what I want for my bday and I would love to go see this show because I know Tyler Perry would be there and I could finally get to see him in person". My mom has all your shows, movies and theater plays on DVD. She loves the message you put into your productions. I also love your shows but my mom is such a fan of yours that I was so hoping to surprise her with the tickets to this show which I knew she would of been so pleased. I'm so upset at the people who ruined this for my mom. I really hope one day you will make another show where you will be particpating in and I could bring my mom to finally see you in person. It breaks my heart to have to tell my mom that this show was canceled, because I know it will crush her. You are an amazing man with such an amazing heart that I'm glad God has bless you with so many great opportunities. Please continue to succeed in life and keep Madea alive. She's such an awesome character. Thank you :))))
