Due To Circumstances That I Can't Control...

Unfortunately, due to circumstances that I can't control, we've had to cancel this leg of the Madea Gets A Job tour.

Here's why. I set a ticket price for the show starting at $25. The reason I set the price so low is so that everyone could get a chance to come out and see the show. I know how tight things are right now. I GET IT! I do not tour to make a living, I tour because I love staying connected to all of you. I love seeing your faces, hearing you laugh and seeing you enjoy yourselves. It gives me great joy. Even though it's a lot of work, I really don't mind doing it. Because of that, what I do is make sure that the promoter sets a reasonable ticket price and the prices are $25, $45 and $65. Even though I set these prices so that they are affordable, fees are added that are out of my control and the price of the tickets can almost double. Add to that, when you go online looking for tickets, IN LOTS OF CASES, you are being led to a bootlegger and you don't even know it. There are a lot of ticket bootleggers and scalpers that buy lots of shows and sell them to the public for double, sometimes triple the price. I've been dealing with this for years but now with the internet I've never seen it this bad.

Also, there are some horrible people who are pretending to be me or representing me on Facebook and charging people money to do a meet and greet on the tour. They are telling people that they are me or working for me and charging them $150 for a meet and greet after the play.  DON'T FALL FOR THIS!! That's not me.

This is so frustrating! Why are people so evil? Why can't people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time? If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing they could make it. It's so sad.

To all of you who have bought tickets and made plans to be there I am so sorry. I really am but my hands are tied.

This was the last live Madea tour and I'm super sorry that you won't get to see it live. All refunds should be given back to you.

I was very upset that Madea Gets a Job was cancelled. This is the second Tyler Perry show in Augusta, GA, in the past two years that have been cancelled. I think there could have been a better way of handling this situation besides canceling the show. I'm sure that you are not the first or only celebrity that has had this problem. I am not sure if I will ever purchase anymore tickets to any Tyler Perry movies or shows.

I found out your play was coming to Raleigh during our vacation. We could not wait to see your show live. We enjoyed our vacation but cut back so we could purchase tickets for our family when we returned. I took an extended lunch to drive to the box office to save fees and get ctr. floor tics. I had tickets in hand and happy as could be until I heard your announcement on the Tom Joyner show. Utter disappointment and disbelief. You have always made a way from no way and I'm very saddened that you gave in to bootleggers. I don't know a way around this issue but I pray with technology it can get better. People with idle time have nothing but time to come up with ideas to get what they want and it seems they have won again because we can't see your show live but I'm sure they will still work on copying this production any way they can. My child sings from your plays. She even know the actors/musicians names from so many of your shows. I truly regret that she won't get to see the magic of this show performed live at a time that I know would have impacted her. We are on your side and hope you have a change of heart for the bigger picture. Love and Peace, we wish you the best. Paula

Hi Tyler, I have been your BIGGEST fan ever. And I am so hurt that you decided to cancel the tour. Every time that you came to my city, I didnt have enough money or i was in school. Then this time I was actually able to afford a show and you canceled it. I understand the whole issue with bootleggers, but I just dont want you to stop doing tours because I just want to see one live show!

I understand that you had to cancel your shows Mr.Perry but if you were to every bring the play back to Albany then just deal with the Civic Center selling your tickets and not online because that is wrong that you are trying to make a living and people just do things that are wrong but god will fix them and I am a big fam of yours and I have almsot all of your plays and movies on DVD but I hope and pray that you bring your play back to Albany Mr.Perry1

Mr. Perry. My family are big fans and I applauded you for sticking to you convictions and not allowing the money machine to rule. I am so sad though because it was my daughters birthday and I wanted to surprise her with this play. I will ALWAYS support your endeavors you are definately a positive role model of what trusting in God and hard work can produce. Again , I applauded and support you I your decision. Stay blessed!

WOW!!! Mr. Perry, I'm so lost for words at this time. I must admit, I do not blame you the the decision you had to make. However, it was truly upsetting to hear the news this morning. I purchased tickets for one of your New York shows and had to make every necessary adjustment to take the day off from work and make babysitting arrangements. Once again, it's not your fault, but breaking the news to my girldfriend was not an easy task. Finally, eventhough we are getting a refund, it was always about the experience of seeing you live since we truly are fans. Good Luck with all of your future endeavors!
