Due To Circumstances That I Can't Control...

Unfortunately, due to circumstances that I can't control, we've had to cancel this leg of the Madea Gets A Job tour.

Here's why. I set a ticket price for the show starting at $25. The reason I set the price so low is so that everyone could get a chance to come out and see the show. I know how tight things are right now. I GET IT! I do not tour to make a living, I tour because I love staying connected to all of you. I love seeing your faces, hearing you laugh and seeing you enjoy yourselves. It gives me great joy. Even though it's a lot of work, I really don't mind doing it. Because of that, what I do is make sure that the promoter sets a reasonable ticket price and the prices are $25, $45 and $65. Even though I set these prices so that they are affordable, fees are added that are out of my control and the price of the tickets can almost double. Add to that, when you go online looking for tickets, IN LOTS OF CASES, you are being led to a bootlegger and you don't even know it. There are a lot of ticket bootleggers and scalpers that buy lots of shows and sell them to the public for double, sometimes triple the price. I've been dealing with this for years but now with the internet I've never seen it this bad.

Also, there are some horrible people who are pretending to be me or representing me on Facebook and charging people money to do a meet and greet on the tour. They are telling people that they are me or working for me and charging them $150 for a meet and greet after the play.  DON'T FALL FOR THIS!! That's not me.

This is so frustrating! Why are people so evil? Why can't people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time? If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing they could make it. It's so sad.

To all of you who have bought tickets and made plans to be there I am so sorry. I really am but my hands are tied.

This was the last live Madea tour and I'm super sorry that you won't get to see it live. All refunds should be given back to you.

It's very unfortunate, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I just look forward to seeing whatever God inspires you to do in the future, incluing the upcoming movie. God's Blessings!

My heart is broken! My husband and I struggle everyday to just get through another day. We had finally planned to come to NY Madison Square Garden. We've never been there and we've never seen a Tyler Perry live play and wanted so bad to attend. I was just getting ready to book our train tickets and purchase tickets to the play and found out it was cancelled. Then I looked at your site and found out why. People are so greedy, dishonest, and just pure evil and hateful. They make it hard for everyone else. When my heart stops hurting I'll tell my husband that we won't be going after-all. You have bought a lot of laughter into our home and its deeply appreciated. I do look forward to seeing your movie, Alex Cross. But I REALLY wanted to see this play. Take care and thank you.

Hi Mr Perry, I would like to add, I don't know if its been said before or if you had thought of it. That you add to your growing adventure your own ticket master. For all your events people can go online through your website to purchase the tickets. It was a thought. But yes it is said how people can be so desperate at doing evil. May God continue to use you to bring laughter to this world.

So sad my husband was going to take me for my B-day & it was the first play I could get him to go to. But you are a smart man & you know what you are doing. But What a smart idea to set up your own ticket center maybe not now but in a few years you would be able to do this so u can do your plays & not worry about your fans getting treated wrong. Best of luck

It is so sad, that you have to cancel your play do to ignorance. I love everything that you have worked so hard on and truly believe that you are very upset of some people, it's a shame what some people do to make a dollar that is simply the root to all evil. Those that love you and your work should have nothing but understanding it was out of your hands and out of control. I still will always be a supporter of you Mr.Perry! Can not wait to see you in Alex Cross cause that's some hard shoes to fulfill behind Mr. Morgan Freeman(lol). Keep doing what you love and what the lord has blessed you to do.

I hate the show was cancelled. Some things are always gonna be out of our control. Its sad that people cant get jobs and dont want jobs so they try to take from the ones who do work hard and enjoy splurging on some good clean entertainment!!! Thanks for all you do!!

I am so sad that the devil is trying to steal our joy! We love you in Washington! I had planned on seeing you live for the first time and bringing my entire family. Hopefully this will not become a stumbling block for you to share your gift with your fans and do what you love. We will be patiently waiting for you to stop by and pay us a visit. God bless!

I am so sad that you will not be coming to Seattle. I appreciate everything you do and the joy you bring to families who sit together just to watch one of your movies or plays.....and just crack up together! Thank you!!! The commitment and love you have towards your craft is the same commitment we (at least our family) has towards supporting you by buying and watching your movies and plays!

Mr. Perry, I was just thrilled and excited when I found out your newest play was coming to town. I have always wanted to see you and your cast live for years, but you did not come to the West coast often. The one time you did I was on the East coast (just my luck). I have followed your work since about 2002 when I first saw Madea's Family Reunion. Since then I have seen all your plays that have been released on DVD, sitcoms, and movies. Despite my disappointment, I will continue to support you and see your upcoming film Alex Cross and can't wait for The Marriage Counselor (One of my favs) to be released in theaters next year. Your work has blessed me and showed me that despite what I saw every Sunday morning growing up, Christians are not perfect and we do not have it all together. I appreciate your honesty and pray that God continues to lead and guide you on your journey and continue to provide provision. God Bless

Good morning Mr. Perry: First, I wanted to let you know how proud our Father in heaven must be of U! As your sis in Christ, I can surely feel his smile & approval, when I look at your face or any of HIS productions that HE has so skillfully created through your obedience & pure vessel! I am proud of you big bro, con't to allow our DAD,Abba Father, to use U, as you have been such a joy to all of us that view your work! I see you have a Pastor/Christ-like heart, and is down right real...which is awesome in this time we live in... Am a bit disappointed that this play is cancelled...I actually wanted to give your tickets as a gift tomorrow to my Pastor for his Birthday... To be perfectly honest, this would have completed my family's Birthday gift basket called ''5 senses=Life's Euphoric Essentials''.... he is a fan, as I am of yours, he has spoken to you before. Well thank you for being the man that HE has called you to be from the foundations of the earth...I tell you, obedience is a powerful thing, peace, love + much joy, love u'r sis in Christ! PS: If u have any other suggestions, am open to it, LOL, thanks ;-)
